It's getting too much. I don't care whether Microsoft had became obsessed for money or what, but people buy PC games because they want online games. And microsoft have a "vista live" for it? Discuss.

I voted no to keep some of the noobs out

No one likes a smart ass.....especially another smart ass!

The days of free online gaming are coming to an end. You can either accept it, or only play the free games (which are becoming less and less).

I'd rather pay for a service that lets me play any game on it, rather than pay to play just one game like WoW.

I voted no, though in reality, I really don't care. Not every game is going to force you to pay to play online. Oh, and you're not paying to play H2V online, you're paying for the GFWL service that lets you play online.

Hell yes it should be free. To few people play this as it is. Charge for it monthly and there will be noone playing...
50 people online will seem like a blessing.

2 cents.

Valve won't let that happen.

But it is free.

Just blame the "Games for Windows" brand. Just play PC games not made by M$ or other companies they own. Most of those games are free except MMO's.

Silver sucks. It limits you to being only able to join dedicated servers. I can't make servers, join my friends servers, and thats really my only problem. And paying won't keep noobs out, look at xbox live.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Free would be great. Just like FEAR. At least you don't have to feel cheated if the game doesn't work.

Doesnt being a gold member cost $50 a year? I mean come on $50 a year!? I mean really you could make that money yourself by mowing your neighbors lawn a couple times and then have enough money to be a gold member for 2 years! When 2 years is up... repeat it again!

If you hate silver so much, go the extra mile and make the money to be a gold member, its not like H2V online is suddenly going to become free because you hate being a silver member...

It's people like you that the gaming market loves. You're the reason why they move on ahead with online gaming fees for PC games now, and you're also living proof that you're not bothered by it, simply because you believe "change is good."

Paying $15 a month for WoW is worth it. Paying $5 a month for Runescape - not worth it, some game creators like Blizzard actually require money to expand their games, for instance: WoW - the outlands. And Runescape... who knows, I hate Runescape but people actually pay Runescape to play because its so massive and huge. WoW keeps expanding and requires money to do so. Blizzard doesnt have their own money trees you know, more the less, any other online game service. You just have to face it that sometime you'll have to get up and go work for what you want (money) to play the games you want (WoW, H2V online, and more).

Some things in the world are free, however the majority of things are not. Im asking everyone, could you picture what it would be like if everyone didnt need money for things. Didnt need jobs and such, wow, I am right now... scary.

Exactly, and with more developers turning to VALVe for publishing, it seems as though Windows Live! might just fail, or be a small minority.

And yet Lost Planet runs on Steam.

I prefer Steam over Live any day, its free and better in practically every way. And later on in the year, Steam will have its biggest upgrade since it's release making it even better.

I would of gotten WoW if it wasn't pay to play, but paying $15 a month just to play the game? I prefer to spend that money on beer. And paying $50 a year for Live, I prefer to save that money for fuel for my car. With these rising fuel prices, People like me need every dollar they can get there hands on.

wow has over 8 million players who all pay monthly, probably more then you would for a gold account on LIVE, and a gold account enables u to play online on your 360 and PC and for more then 1 game, i dont see why theres a problem with the fee for LIVE...

I'd like to know where you're getting that from. The only games that make you pay to play I'm aware of are MMOs where the developer hosts the server(s) and Live titles. There are no third party developers making a game for Live for a very good reason.

Steam = an absolute joy to use.

You can copy your entire steam directory to any pc and BOOM! all your games are there, dont even need to run an installer, and Valve is perfectly fine with you doing that!

Live = an buggy interface that we are forced to use that has problems registering, has a suck ass interface and will more than likely deter more customers than it attracts.

As for me, H2V is my first windows for PC game and my last.

  • 07.14.2007 5:42 AM PDT

(Bungie > 343i)

I picked no because a part of that money goes to Bungie and with out money we wouldn't have good games.

Yes... you can.

But gold is slightly better. No one has yet corrected me but I believe the cost for gold member is $50 a year. Thats pretty easy, in fact, cheap.

You do realize that live just started up and that with all things, anything new is almost always buggy and a pain to use. But give it time and i'm sure that live will get a lot better and attract more ppl to it.

It's the hard heart that kills...

No, but for $50+ dollars a year, a better quality of service would be nice for both PC and Xbox.
