Well I feel that the bungie.net forums have thousands of pesky dead threads in the area And I think that there should be a page 50 monster that eats old and useless threads as well as spam. Well I dont actually mean a real monster! but my point is that the bungie.net forums should have a limit of 50 pages per forum and every once in a while a thread gets deleted, there is 4975 pages in the halo 2 forums, the majority of those are stuffed with spam and old threads that should be deleted, Because I went to the last page and there was a poll asking if your going to camp out for halo 2?

so Just rid of this please Bungie and make a page 50 filter.

If we deleted all the old posts, then what the hell would be the point of a search feature? This is history we're talking about. Sure, it's not that important, but it's ours and deleting it seems, well, -blam!- lame if you ask me.

After 60 days of a thread's inactivity, it falls prey to the bowels of Bungie.

  • 07.13.2007 11:13 PM PDT

Don't send me group invites.

I don't know, I honestly find it kind of cool to look at old threads. I've been on b.net for only 6 months, but sometimes when I'm really bored I just go to like page 2000 and see what people were there and what they used to post about.

Besides I have some saved threads that are more than 50 page buried.

  • 07.13.2007 11:15 PM PDT

This is defiantly one of the oddest threads I've seen... I'm going to take it seriously, though, and make a serious reply. As locked topics, the threads do no one harm. They don't take up enough space to interfere with anything else. If they were deleted, it could possibly harm someone looking for one specific tidbit of information, and ruin his experience on this website. Plus, these forums move too fast for it to be a 50 page limit.

Read about the Forgotten Spartan I Program
Butane: To protect the world from devastation!
sir_brilliant: To unite all people within our nation!
Rainman89: To denounce the evils of truth and love!
sir_brilliant: To extend out reach to the stars above!
SpaceGhostFlyer: Jessie!
Butane: James!
sir_brilliant: Team Rocket blasting off at the speed of light
Butane: Surrender now or prepare to fight
sir_brilliant: Meowth, that's right!

As has been stated;

This idea is unnecessary, because old threads provide more history than they take up space. Just two days ago I used the search feature to answer a question I was going to ask. I found the answer in a thread over two years old. If we didn't have those pages, I would have had to start a whole new thread for a simple question.

"Whatever exists, whatever in creation exists without my knowledge exists without my consent. These anonymous creatures may seem little or nothing in the world. Yet the smallest crumb can devour us. Any smallest thing beneath yon rock out of men's knowing. Only nature can enslave man and only when the existence of each last entity is routed out and made to stand naked before him will he be properly suzerain of the earth."

I have quite a use for some of those old threads…I draw bits of my philosophy from saving certain threads that I find interesting. I’ve even made a few threads in the Flood, and surely by now two or three would be in page 60 or something, therefore deleting all of the brilliant points and counterpoints.

Not to mention the fact that all of those old threads take up…like…0.01% of the server space.

Now I don’t see that much of a problem with having some sort of automatic system that deleted such threads in which the user was permabanned, considering that such threads are likely short and contain nothing but flames at the original spam.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

We used to have a monster that ate spam, but he moved onto join CA.

Look Achilles made a funny!

I don't agree with 'an old thread eating monster'. There isn't really any need to delete old thread. If you don't want to see the old threads, don't view 60 pages back.
Although I like how it could be a 'monster'.

If space was the issue, we could simply make the point that a single gamertag's "Saved Films" from Halo 3 has the potential to be as large (or larger) than all of the text on these forums......

Well, disk space really isn't the issue.

Achronos has repeatedly noted that these forums take up very little space. Sound and video files are much larger than text files.

But without a page 50 monster then people could bring 100 year old threads back!
Btw its just an expression.
