(Bungie > 343i)

Why can't the major CPU company's surpass the 3.6ghz area without over clocking??? we want 4ghz, Instead of raising the speed they add another core and it helps but speed is better. Another core is good but it is for running other tasks and it is not double your speed like a 2.4ghz dual core is still 2.4 not 4.8ghz. I want a major processor company to make a 4ghz dual core CPU (NOT OVER CLOCKED)
(i have a Pentium Dual Core 940 was 3.2ghz i over clocked to 4.2ghz)

They never made a stock 4ghz yet

Here you will need this to help you get your foot out of the back of your throat, looks llike its in there pretty deep. And what is that on your face? Egg?! *hands Kim a washcloth*

Who cares what the speed is, the processor architecture matters more. Hell take a core 2 duo, it's twice as fast as your pentium D clock for clock.

Yea, it's not about the amount of GHz you can make your CPU go now, its about how much power you can stuff into a tiny processor without using to much energy and heat dissipation. Todays CPU's, say a C2D clocked at 3GHz is equivalent to a 10GHz+ Pentium 2 CPU. An AMD FX-62 - 2.8GHz is equivalent to a Pentium D at 3.8-4GHz.

Besides, does anyone (besides people running servers) really need all that speed? Static has a screenshot of him running 3 games and a map editor, and his CPU load is 71% with memory usage of 1.76 out of 2 GBs. If he is still able to be playing H2V with all that, there isn't much of a need for anything faster for a few more years...

Yea thats true for the moment. But new applications and games are quickly taking advantage of multicore processors. So its better to be prepared now and enjoy the experience in the future, than waiting later and having big problems and issues.

And your forgetting the key factor - we are humans, we are becoming more and more advanced at a rate faster than ever before. There is an infinite amount of possibilities out there, And companies will go to any lengths to prove themselves better than the competition.

Hell I bet if we told the Japanese that there is a planet with alien tentacles on it with sexy school girls, we will be traveling at faster than light speed within a week.
