Well I've finally decided that it's retarded to keep trying to upgrade my gaming experience if all I have are PCI slots, so I'm going to buy a new motherboard.

Now I'm a complete noob when it comes to this. I'm capable of replacing a video card and all of that basic hardware, but I have no idea how to go about replacing a motherboard.

So how do I choose one? Do I have to find a certain type that's compatible with my case? If so, how do I find out what kind I need?

Any links would be truly helpful, and if any of you have suggestions for a 50-100 dollar motherboard upgrade (if those exist), then I'll be eternally grateful. I don't need PCI-e, trust me, all I'll need is AGP so I can buy an inexpensive GeForce 7800 or something.

I'll try not to be an ass to anyone like I was last time I asked for help. Thanks everyone.

Well you would need to take the CPU off the old board and stick it to the new one with some thermal paste. What CPU do you have?

Thanks for the reply. I have an Intel Pentium 4 2.4 gHz.

But I found a combo set, mother board and CPU. I'll link you to them, and a possible GPU. Please tell me if they suck.

Must be a real budget build. If your gonna do some upgrading atleast get something that will support DDR2 ram and a dual-core and pci-e.

Yeah it really is a budget build. I'm limited to about 200 dollars in spending. And anyway, I'm not interested in hardcore gaming or anything. I just play some Call of Duty 2 or Halo then and again. This rig should do that easily, and with an added 2 GB of RAM, it should give me mid-end performance.

So what do you think? Should I go with these parts, or do you guys have any suggestions for budget hardware? Thanks.

That will be a decent and upgradeable computer.

Wow, this sucks. I just ordered all the stuff I had listed before noticing your post. Thanks for your help though, man, I appreciate it.

I hate life so much right now.

I did order a slightly better GPU, though -- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168141020 86

Compare this coming rig with my current one. You'll see why I'm happy anyway.

512 MB RAM
Intel Pentium 4 2.4 gHz
ATI Radeon X1300 256 MB PCI
80 GB HDD
