Why do you have to aim in front of the person you are sniping in a game. Is this just lag, or is it the game itself. BTW I am not a newb

I think it takes time for the bullet to reach it target,so you could say its the game itself.

Your target is probably moving. If it's standing still it's just lag.

I think the sniper rifle, though handy, is unrealistic next to the other guns. If you use other guns, you notice that the bullets reach the opponent much faster than the sniper rifle's ammo. If a sniper rifle has slower shots (as in velocity), it wouldn't be a very good sniping weapon. Of course, then it'd be a broken weapon.

and a pistol able to shoot across an entire map with pinpoint accuracy, drop someone in 4 shots (when 60 rounds from an assault rifle barely drops their shields), and then overpower every other weapon in the game is more realistic?

Yeah. Halo 2 is supposedly going to improve this fault, so instead of having slow shots, the sniper rifle will recoil and kick the aim upward.
