Honestly...Why? I stil haven't figured out why this game makes you play it more than any other game. Maybe because of the ranks. Maybe because of the random glitches. Or maybe because of how good you can get at it in a period of time. Who knows, all I know is this is some kind of drug to me!!! Tell me how you feel about this game and what keeps you to it!?

You lose the game.

Halo is Bungie's way of taking over the world. If it wasn't addicting, then They couldn't put that plan into action.

The fact that the game is so extremely fair is the reason i think its so popular for me. In every game type, EXCEPT team Fiesta, everyone has the same stuff. in most other games you choose your equipment and start with it. Halo requires strategy to figure out what you want to use. There is no unfair advantage in any game. Some would consider host an advantage, but its only slight at that, and not really a big difference in most games/gametypes.

my god
this game is addicting even my family is always telling and getting mad at me for playing it
Its just a fun game that is much better than others. it has awesome glitches awesome chances at being really
good at the game. a lot of cool fundamentals. even when you first get the game and get a first kill it gets you all excited
inside. its really addicting takes skill and is fun to learn with all the bxr , quad shoting, etc. its just fun
when you beat somebody . Sometimes it really will piss you off but for some reason you just keep having
another freakin go at it, until you are better, better , then the best. Its challenging and full of action...

P.s. add me, i guess.

its just a really fun game and i can't wait til' halo 3 comes out im gonna do whatever i can to get an xbox money as soon
as possible and then my bro is gonna be sellin candy at school so ima take his idea and do that to save money for
the game. I can't get a real highpaying job because im too young but i do have a job hopefully that can help out with the 360
i also gotta somehow convince my dad(my mom hates that im on my xbox) I still do everything im supposed to its just when im
in a ranked game she always has something important for me to do. well can't wait til' halo 3

I think that while all of the above comments have merit, the credit does go to XBox live as previously stated. It's the public aspect of it. The execution of the online multiplayer has probably never been implemented so well as with this game. The way it's set-up is awesome. The ultimate exploitation of the world wide web.

I have only had my 360 console since may. Halo 2 was the fist game I bought for it. It might as well be a 20 pound crack rock.

Good, friendly, violent fun.

It is addictive for many reasons for many different people. The design of the creatures, vehicles, and characters, is of a very anime/scifi nature, mixing the complex creature and machine designs found in japanese manga and anime with traditional scifi elements, the melding makes the game look very pleasant from a simple design perspective and draws in the gamer with its vibrant colors, designs, and landscapes. Also the controls are very intuitive, allowing the player the freedom to make split second decisions about whether to engage enemies from afar (guns), medium range (nades), or close up (melee), you can literally make endless combinations on the fly when playing multiplayer or the campaign. Furthermore the vehichles are extremely fun and control amazingly well, you can do jumps, rolls, and even flips, giving gun fights a sort of "hollywood" style action feel. When you go off a ramp on a warthog, land, and then spin just right so the sniper in the passenger seat gets a clear shot off at the enemy that was in front of you just seconds ago you really feel like you are in some high budget action movie. Basically this game is full of "AWE" moments for any type of game enthusiast, the amazing visuals mixed with extremely fast paced and creative gunplay combined with vehichles and an amazing multiplayer makes Halo a great contender for greatest game ever mad and the most addictive shooter of all time.

Very well said mate, just imagine the fun we're gonna have with the new saved films functionality in H3, particularly when you can detach the camera to view from any perspective!! Halo2 is a helluva game for matchplay, easily better than anything else, but H3 will just be pwntacular.

Cos its simple to play.

A lot of games nowadays try and complicate things, what with button combos etc....sometimes being simple and basic works the best and in this case its true. Bungie made botton layout simple and in doing so gives the player the chance to make split second actions, therefore giving us entertainment and a hungar for more. The map designs, different playlists and team games, the matching system makes the game the best multiplayer game there has ever been. The competitiveness and sheer joy at getting the last kill to win 50 - 49, laughing at the guy in the hog as your grenade sends him into a roll. The gameplay is sometimes fast and furious and then can slow down and be cautious as each team has 49 each........your feel your heart beat a little faster as you want to get that last kill, yet don't wanna be the victim for your team losing.........it has different kinds of addiction. But overall the sheer fun and entertainment the game brings is second to none and no game is anywhere equal to it. That includes any next gen game. And the fact that anyone can pick up a controller and give it a go.

  • 07.17.2007 4:18 AM PDT

For me the reason that it is so addicting is because although the matches may be the same sometimes, the people are different, and everyone has a different style of playing.

yeah thats a good point...........although its the same CTF on terminal, its different each and everytime as people play differently. Or somebody will say something that amuses you and things like that tend to stick out more than the actual battles in game.

Funny things stick out like someone instinctively jumping in the air on lockout when in a close quarter battle, only for him to fall off the map or the guy in the ghost getting stuck after he tried to splatter someone ( owned ). Even someone saying something funny in a different voice has me laughing...............its a great game.

I recently started playing halo 2 again in earnest. What struck me while I played a few matches the other day is the variety of awesome stuff that you can do or can happen around you that, even after two and a half years, still surprises or excites you.

For one example, I spent an extended period driving the hog round relic in a slayer match. I ran into heavy fire and my gunner and passenger died. I tried to make my escape but as I went over a hill I saw a ghost pounding towards me at full speed. I had the choice of either hitting it and stalling us both, risking being finished by his cannons, or swerving to avoid him and risk being finished off by the guys BR'ing me. I chose to carry on straight at him, and the speed was such that I smashed the ghost and got a splatter and was able to make a getaway with my shields at zero. I didn't even know you could splatter the guy in the ghost!

In the same session, I discovered a sweet new hiding place for defence on headlong which allows you to jump anybody coming from the teleporter side with a huge advantage, and a way to get the hog through that same route when attacking that I had never witnessed before.

So, new tactics and ways to improve your play keep unfolding, and crazy mad -blam!- can still surprise you at any time.

I believe there are a few points why its played more than other games (not addicting to me)

1 - Xbox Live
2 - Ranks, MM, and design of LIVE
3 - Great FPS, variety of new weapons, aliens brought into a good design and character.
4 - The name. Halo is just a great word for a game title...lol
5 - I believe (NOT SURE) that Halo came out right when the xbox was a new thing
6 - Graphics (graphics were great during those times)
7 - Easy to play, get good at, a GREAT game to play with friends.

I believe this game is so addicting is because it is competitive. Every guy(or gal) that gets their first pwnage moment, gets so excited and rubs it in the opponents face. The competitiveness of this game on XBL or just splitscreen with your buds is just out of this world. Halo 2 took over my life and I am proud to say that.

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

The party system. No other game has come close or has basically even tried to copy it. I think I heard somewhere that CoD4 is going to, but I am not sure. I think being able to party up with friends on a virtual couch and go from match to match is what keeps many people coming back. Whether or not it is MM or customs being able to easily play with friends is a huge plus that has kept Halo 2 one of the most played games on Xbox Live.
