Just pointing out that if holding the left trigger boosts then what happens to the Fuel Rod gun? Different button?
It says in GIF about the Banshee having a boost. Of course it could all change though

Simple answer banshee doesn't boost at least not yet so far that is just a rumor.

Somebody posted this like a week ago, and nobody could come to an agreement on the answer. You know what I think might be a good idea, using Y to switch what the left trigger does. Like it starts off with L as the boost, and if you press Y then it switches it to the fuel rod cannon. It might be sort of confusing at first, but could be simple enough. Anyway, Bungie will make it work somehow.

Through war we will teach your heresy.
Through battle we will teach your frailty.
Through death we will teach your fate.

Like he said it hasn't exactly been confirmed that the Banshee will have a boost function, but even so how would it work?

That would be cool.

Double kudos...thank you for putting that out on the table.

And does the Y button do anything in the Banshee? if not, maybe we can use that as the boost...

Ok i reread at xbox.com it says on water works they could use ghosts, warthogs, and banshees so i correct my self they were able to use banshees however I doubt it will have a boost function for several reasons it will be easy enough to dodge rockets in banshee because it flies the left trigger is uesd for the fuel rod and there for cannot be used to boost because it is taken. If it was Y you have to take your thumb off the thumb stick and then you can't steer and you crash. And the banshee was plenty fast why would you need to up the speed.

If the purple trails are any indication, the boost is also available for the Banshee

I'm also pretty sure that I read that they have a boost too

well if you look under the new ghost you can the grav lift "pimped out" effects. Maybe since the banshee uses the same tech as the ghost, the will have purple contrails flanked by the classic white.

i'm pretty sure i read that the banshees and ghosts boost. but OXM just says :Another example is the new boost ability of the Ghost, which we got to see and feel in action..."

doesn't mention the Banshee in OXM

Xbox controllers are sensitive to pressure on the buttons, right?

I would recommend to Bungie:

Make quickly tapping the L button fire the cannon and pulling it hard and holding it activate the boost.

Heh, for any of you with doubts on the whole boost thing, if you've seen any of the E3 2k4 videos, the boost was mentioned by the guy doing the show. And if my memory is atually working properly he said the L trigger activates it.

In GameInformer (issue 133) it clearly states (on page 47) that both the Banshee and the Ghost feature the new boost function. And also stated "by holding down the left trigger, the engines flare and send you screaming across the level at unheard-of speeds." So maybe they removed the secondary fire.

Sheesh, this post is kind of a trainwreck.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Banshee doesn't have an FRG in the next game. After having played a lot of Halo PC, the Banshee is a fairly powerful vehicle, many say overpowered. As such, Bungie may have decided to nix the FRG in the banshee all together.

Also, Game Informer DID say the Banshee has a boost, and Game Informer DID play the game, so this IS official information.

so ur saying the frg isn't gonna be in the banshee. that would be so awesome because of all those banshee noob who have nothing better to do than get in teh banshee and just fly around and have no skill at halo whatsoever.

The FRG is just fine. I am a skilled player and it never bothers me that people use it. Just forces you to play it safe and to take cover. As you should around enemy aircraft.

Whoops. I always get the two mixed up. :( Yeah, I was thinking about the ghost. Sometimes I'm not as big as a Halo geek as I'd like to be. :)

using Y for the boost button would be perfect. whoever said that you would need to take your thumb off of the joystick for steering, it wouldn't matter. the balancing factor for the boost is that you can't steer or shoot. i loved the FRG. the only thing that the plasma guns were good for was vehicles. it could just be that i have bad aim, but i can't hit anyone on foot with the plasmas. the FRG is great for anti-covie (i have the xbox version, so i've never used the Banshee in MP). the guns were good for getting that annoying extra little punch in after i fired my FRG.
