The problem with people who support PETA, though, is that they dont know the whole story(such as yourself).

Millions of people a year are saved because of animal testing. Me and the majority of my family are part of this group (diabetes, heart disease, cancer, it all runs in my family). To condemn a million people in order to save a hundred lab rats, not only is an unfair tradeoff, but completely idiotic. (Dont even say that a million lab rats are killed for every million people, they only need to test it on a group of a few animals. Its not a 1 to 1 tradeoff) How can you justify that?

PETA also commits many crimes. Vandalism and assault are their favorite ones. Extremist members of PETA will go around and beat the -blam!- out of people who run animal shelters, meat plants, you name it. They also will set arson fires in animal testing labs. Many people will admit to these crimes and say that they are proud they did it. Then they go to jail, get out, and do the same thing over again. Oh, and they will also come to high schools and colleges and tell your children how to make bombs, and encourage them to go blow stuff up "in the name of animal rights".

Tell me, do you eat meat? Do you own a pet? Has anyone in your family ever had a stroke, heart attack, diabetes, cancer, or any other life threatening ailment and survived? Have you ever seen a blind man with a guide dog helping him down the street? Do you enjoy the zoo (where, i might add, animals are treated like royalty)? PETA wants to take all that away. They are against ALL OF THAT. Now why dont you tell me who you are willing to support? Why dont you tell me what great evil you think is done to animals? You dont even know evil, and neither does our whole generation. We have never seen slavery, we have never seen mass genocide, we have never seen a world war, we have never seen a child crying out on the street after his house was blown to rubble, never seen mass evil empires, never seen people burned at the stake for being against religion, or -blam!--blam!-, or speaking out for something they believe in, we have never seen totalitarianism, n,azism, communism, never seen a 200,000 people die in an atomic explosion, never seen women and children burned alive inside their homes by American soldiers. You have never seen these things, so you think that the evil in our society is directed towards animals.

Why dont you tell me, what great evil is done to animals?

Hey, man! I'm not easily bothered, but this bothers me much. PETA's goal, as I understand it, is not to prevent animal testing but to prevent needless suffering because we don't give enought of a -blam- to make considerations for the critters we conduct our tests on. If I'm wrong about this, be sure to flame me...

Humans are animals, too. We aren't plants, fungi, bacteria or protists, and there are only five kingdoms. I don't like when people bully those under thier power. Have you considered the interpretation that God (supposing God exists- let's not get into an argument about that here!) created us as caretakers with the purpose of using our greater influence to improve conditions here as opposed to the popular interpretation that we're here to enslave and dominate for no reason other than that we can?

Edit: Hey, hey! What do you think Adolf Hitler though about God's intended place for his "master race" in relation to all the other "inferior" beings? I'm soo gonna burn in flame mail for the sins I'm now commiting against the one species God intended to be deserving of rights... Oh well, it was worth it.

Are you sure you've got your info strait? If I go beat the snot outta someone and say that it was for your organisation, does that make me a member of your organisation?

In case you're wondering, I do eat meat. I don't think it's right to discriminate against plants. Lol, just kidding. Eating other things is natural, and I've no problem with using some critters for testing that leads to medical advances- I'm all for medical advance! What I've a problem with is causing suffering that doesn't do anyone any good (unless you count satisfying sadistic desires) and can easily be avoided save for laziness, cruelty, etc.

Edit: Lol, I can just imagine my little brother sitting in school watching a presentation on how to make bombs...

I challenge you to link us to any creditable source for the information you posted here, you lying piece of -blam-. I would tell you what I think about using lies to promote an ideal (right or wrong), but that's surely not allowed in this forum... Does anyone here remember history lessons regarding any of the numerous nasty religious crusades fueled by false propaganda?

If nothing eles there is this.

The people that protest furs and meat have ignored 2 critical facts.

1. You cant save an already dead animal from becoming a fur.

2. and we have carnivore teeth. *smiles*

so...thats my oppinion...sorry if i offended anyone

Ok you do all realize that their is not much difference from animals and people. We share 98% of our DNA with chimps. We also share 50% of our DNA with a bananna. People just have to learn to have a balance with animals and nature......and actually look toward the future (which may or may not be in the stars). lol

Mmmm, chicken. I think that whether other stuff was put here specifically for us to eat is probably beyond my ability to try to debate, but it seems kinda silly to me that someone would create a world with lots of different flavours of life JUST so that one species can enjoy the many different types that are edible- which are probably just a tiny fraction of our planetary biome. I said before that I think it's alright to eat other life forms. Everybody has to do it. If we aren't supposed to, why were we created as beings that have to? I don't like the fact that laziness of meat farm employees and greed of owners causes lots of terrible stuff. I feel that we have a responsibility to ensure that the food we raise for eating, furs, research, etc. doesn't have to endure any suffering that isn't required by the purpose we grow them for.

I heard that many yummy chickens sit in cages too small to stand up in thier whole lives, covered with chicken drips because farm (factory?) employees don't want to pay for more space and labor than they have to- and end consumers won't pay for it either. I don't trust the source I heard it from as well as I trust my own eyes, but it does sound like something humans would do, judging from my experience...

Ditto. I don't know how an animal rights thread came to be here in the first place, but I thought it was important enough to respond to.

Edit: As you can see, it's something that really gets me going.

Yea, in my bio class my teacher had a list of deer predators in the local (upstate New York) ecosystem.

- Mountain Lions
- Cougars
- Cars

Seriously, cars are the main predator of deer these days - I think more deer need to die. They're annoying when you're driving home at twilight. It's not like it will be any great loss - they have no predators, and they're killing forest habitats by clearing all the ground-level foliage.

Since the infamous 1994 Assault Weapons Ban expires this year, you can expect the local deer population to drop drastically. Yup, me and my G36 are gonna have lots of fun drinking and walking around with the local hicks...

G36's are still illegal. Real assault weapons were banned a long time ago, the only thing the 1994 ban did was force gunmakers to make cosmetic changes to their guns.

Just cuz their illegal doesnt mean we wont be using them AK-47 the indestructable assault rifle

No, but I have considered that the human race may be the armageddon in itself, endlessly consuming and proliferating, and if we're lucky spreading across the galaxy later on like a virus... or maybe I just watched The Matrix, who knows.

forumrunner, the things that i said are indeed true, and I have seen it with my own eyes. I dont blame you for beleiving in PETA, most of the american public has been forcefed their bull-blam!- for years.

But by supporting PETA, you support the organization that wants to take away your ability to eat meat. You are in denial about the facts I stated, they arent bull-blam!-, go do some reserach some time. Go to one of their rallys where Ingrid Newkirk (the founder/leader of PETA) states they want to put an end to the eating of meat, the using of animals in research, hunting (which keeps the environment in balance, humans are a natural predator and have been for a million years). PETA wants the abolition of meat factories all around the globe. They are even against pets. People just dont know these things. Go do some research sometime. They wants to take sparky away from you. They want to take that steak off of your plate. You said you enjoy eating meat, yet you support PETA? My information comes from a number of very reliable sources, including PETA's own website, books, Vegan publications, and most of all their very own speaches. Its not bull-blam!-, PETA is.

Now if you are interested in animal rights, that is noble of you. I can see you love meat and you probably have a pet. There are better organizations out there who dont commit acts of violence, and dont condemn the eating of meat, but are still active in animal rights. I suggest you look at one of those.

Well said. Oh *raises hand* ME! ME! I hate PETA to! I have a personal reason for hating them two. I was visiting some friends in the California LA area, whereing a brand new calves skin leather jacket, and some of those hippy mother -blam!-s threw blood on me. Yeah, that makes a lot of -blam!- sense, -blam!-s. Throwing the blood of slaughtered animals on people, when you're trying to PREVENT the killing of animals. -blam!--tards.

Oh, and not to take this thread off topic, but fully automatic weapons are perfectly legal here, as long as you bought one before '82 (or somewhere around that time, sorry cant remember at the moment.)

H&K rules!
Damn straight! ;-)

As for the topic of automatic weapons, I was raised on hunting, but there is no need to use a G36 on a deer. Not that its even legal to hunt with them anyways. There are ways to own them, but the game laws still apply.
