My friend and I are unable to join each others' parties on XBL. We're both able to play in matchmaking...just not with each other. My friend uses a 360 and I use the regular Xbox. Is there a setting on the 360 that 'blocks' other users? Or is it something wrong with our routers?

RIP Halo 2.

Put your Xbox in your router's DMZ.

i dont think that i can put it in my dmz. my dmz tab just says enable or disable and the host ip address.

Enable it and put your Xbox's IP in there. I'd set a static IP for my Xbox though, just in case your router ever refreshes the DHCP (reboot or something), you wouldn't want your PC accidentally winding up in the DMZ.

Chances are he'll have to put his box in the DMZ as well. I had two friends locally with the same issue, so I helped set their routers up and it fixed the issue.

You want DHCP enabled. You just want to set your Xbox to manual instead of automatic for both the IP settings and DNS. Copy down what they were before and then set the manual settings to match those. Once that's done, put the now static IP of your Xbox in the router's DMZ.

Hmm, I'll have to check the NAT setting.

Thanks everyone.

If anyone has a Toshiba PCX5000, let me know how you were able to open up the three ports. I was able to get two of the three, but I don't know how to get the other one. I have seriously thought of buying my own router so I can have an open NAT.
