Without debating semantics too much. Here is my take on this whole argument. Soul Nemesis has a point, a point that he's not intelligent enough to explain to people without being offensive or just plain ignorant about it.
Trying to get people to accept the possibility that the game is going to be a flop is pointless. Between every interview and just the general acceptance of halo1, it's a guarantee that bungie is going to make a ton of money off of halo2. It's going to sell out in the stores for days and days after it's release.
I will accept the possibility of the game being unbalanced, or broken, it seems a bit close minded to not consider that bungie will screw up somewhere during the development process and overlook something important. But the game won't be a flop never the less. Think of it this way. Legend of zelda titles are extremely popular, and they are never a flop, even if they made a bad title people would still go out and buy it. And it'll work the same way with halo2.
Take soul calibur 2 for example, a large part of the soul calibur community beta tested that game when it was in the arcades for well over 6 months, but despite that fact, despite how many alternate versions were released with fixes and the removal of unfair techniques based on consumer feedback. The final console product came out flawed. More flawed than the original soul calibur game.
Granted it's a different developer, but bungie did have prior fps experience before halo. And all you need to say is about the final product of halo1 is, look at the pistol. While the game was still a complete sucess , most of the game types that you can play are boring and unbalanced, because of the pistol. Now take into consideration how lame a developer had to be to overlook something so obvious as weapon balance, especially considering this wasn't the first fps they've developed.
Try not to get offended if you do like bungie, because i do as well very much, halo1 is obvious a good game despite the pistol being in it. And without a doubt halo2 looks like an incredible game despite what flaws might pop up in the final product.
So in conclusion my point is, there is no way in my mind that halo2 will be a flop, it just won't happen it'll be either just as fun as halo1 if not more. But i am concerned about balancing issues nevertheless.
