Technically it's cheating. But button glitches should be an exception to the rule that "all glitches used to your advantage are cheating". Because they add depth, unlike superjumps, dummy glitched (in the past), secondary standby (in the past), modding, the new network glitching, tossing the objective through a wall, those all kill the fun and any feel of fair competition. They are cheating.

But the people on these forums and everywhere who get smashed by button combos, don't look at it correctly. For instance it should be "wow he double shotted me that was pretty sick" (i respect people who can double shot), they think what a noob that was so nub, that took no skill, i should have won. Or if you get BxRed, then maybe you shouldn't have rushed him?

The problem here is not the opponents button "glitches", but that you the player didn't look within to see why you got outplayed. You look for any reason possible to not change your play style, to adapt, to improve. Instead you look for excuses like "it was a noob combo, anyone can do it". Then what's your excuse for whenever you missed the noob combo and got killed? What's below a noob? Are you now a rock?

The problem is not the button combos, or noob combos, or host shotty whores. It's just you, putting yourself in stupid positions and not recognizing it.

It really ruined the game for people that didn't know how to do it. It's not going to be in Halo 3. Get over it.

unless they changed it from the beta there are going to be button combos. you had to do different combos but they worked the same

Really? like what? I didn't encounter any button glitches in the beta (except the pistol B-crouch-R, but that will be resolved.)

Hm.

There is already another thread discussing this exact issue; button combos and so forth.

It's here. You should have contributed your opinion there. Next time, check to see whether or not a subject, that is active, already exists.

Note: Bungie themselves say using button combos is cheating. Discussing any topic involving cheating is prohibited here, is it not?

EDIT: Just tweaked the link.

Yes, the discussion of glitches is forbidden...

And, animation glitches did not "add depth" as the OP wants to try to claim. Actually, it did quite the opposite. It effectively "shrunk" the game by destroying weapon balance on the BR. It made the BR effective at close range (when it's not suppose to be) by the use of BXR, and it made it more effective at ROF (than it's suppose to be) by the use of 2xShot.

Since the OP's initial premise is therefore incredibly flawed and downright invalid, I won't comment on the rest of his post since it is hereby moot.

Hi, SPARTAN 104FRED. Good to see you.

Today, I'm in a fairly calm mood, so, I'll just accept your reason (quoted) for why this thread was created. I suppose the author here is simply elaborating on the chatter happening on the other thread.

Hm, well, this still is on the subject of cheating and, therefore, appropriate action should be taken.

EVERYONE THAT THINKS EITHER SUPERBOUNCING, BXR, OR DOUBLE/QUAD SHOTS ARE CHEATING, READ THIS!!!

Q
What is NOT considered a bannable offense by Bungie?
A
Quitting a game is not a bannable offense. Having a team-killer on your team sucks, but that's not a bannable offense either. Many people are also aware of the "super jumping" phenomenon that allows players on some maps to jump to extreme heights. We are monitoring this situation for long term impacts to game balance but we are not banning people who do this simply because it's too widespread and is something that's basically built into the map. Anyone can do this if they want to though it is difficult to pull off in many cases. We will continue to monitor the impacts this bug has on our game.

ANYONE CAN ALSO DOUBLE OR QUAD SHOOT, ALTHOUGH IT IS DIFFICULT!!!

Idiot.

They say it's not a bannable offense. They do not say that they consider it 'not cheating' in that quote of yours.

It only adds depth if you play BR-Starts.

You shouldn't have to change your playstyle because of cheaters.

Button combos are fine. They are unstoppable by bungie and accepted on many fronts. It's pointless to argue about it because they will always be in Halo 2 and thats that. There will also be button glitches in Halo 3. There's always gonna be people to exploit a glitch, you just gotta deal with it and learn to use it to your advantage.

You're 100% correct there.

It's a shame nothing can be done.

Note: Reiterating the fact that we're discussing glitches that are exploited online. *winks to Ninjas*

I work at Microsoft. I have nothing to do with Halo and nothing I say is "the official word".

So we should adapt and start cheating too?
Maybe everyone should start modding and add another layer of depth to the game.[/s]

If you want to mash buttons go play street fighter.

Not even then...because it only exacerbates the problem because it allows people the opportunity to "break" weapons balance more easily because they start with their favorite glitch weapon.

Same reason why M6D starts in HCE only made that problem worse. The increase use/and or availability of a weapon that "breaks" weapons balance only increases the problem, not lessens it.

And speaking of BR starts, it actually makes the game far less fair because host advantage becomes constant advantage for the person with host that spawns with a BR every time. BR starts on Tombstone demonstrate this.

I agree with the Topic Creator. Although it may be cheating it adds depth to the game. The only reason why I see so many anti-bxr people here is that they are not at the skill level where the glitches actually balance out the game.
If Bungie really wanted to have a super balanced game then they should address Host advantage first, and imbalanced maps.

How did it ruin the game? Button combos slowly came into play over time, for anyone to not learn them, you had to be completely oblivious of whats going on around you. It's completely your own fault if you don't know something basic like button combos.

Now is the time of our unworlding
One final effort is all that remains

The logic following it's a "glitch", not a glitch and it-won't-get-me-banned-so-HA!, is the same logic that follows that of:
This is against the law, but it's not a felony!

Second accounts are NOT cheating:

Ill just tell you the fastest way to end all this debate.

Ill take myself and three of the best MLG players that want to play. We will play against any 4 of you "glitch haters". During the game we wont use ANY button glitches and after its over we will see if the glitchers would suck if they didnt use them.

It added depth because the BR was the weapon of choice before anyone knew the combos. Over time it just became a more versatile weapon. We also continue to miss the most common button combo, BxB, which adds more skill to beat down battles and gives you and chance against someone with a sword or shotty, or if you have low shield. BxR's aren't used as often as you guys like to think. In fact it would be foolish to charge in for a BxR, the only time you really want to use it is if you have no shield and its do or die. Much like the double shot. It doesn't change any balance issues, just gives you that one last chance to get the kill. Now if you're playing people who will just rush, then BxR's may become more common. Performing a BxR on someone in a tunnel isn't that hard, but in a stafe battle, it's all timing and setup.

They help close range battles, but at no point would I say the br is "effective" at close range. I'd still take duals, a shotty, or a sword anytime i'm in a close range battle. The key is to jump around against a BR.

BxB adds skill to beat downs
BxR can get you a quick kill or very easyily get you killed if you do it too quick or miss and end up getting beat down.
RRx can save you in a pinch but can just as easily secure your death if not performed right.

They are skillful and add depth, unlike this ignorant BBBBBBB would like you to believe.
