The reason I bought Halo 2 for Vista was because I wanted to play against Xbox 360 players. At E3 last year Microsoft told gamers that cross platform play would be available for GFW games on the PC and 360. That clearly meant Halo 2. So why is it, that in Halo 2 for Vista I can only play against other Vista gamers? It's boring. I've never seen more than 40 servers created, and there are only about 3 servers with more than 10 people in it. Was cross platform support removed because of all the babies who cried about not wanting to get raped by people using the mouse?

Are there any plans to let Vista gamers play Halo 2 against 360 gamers in the future?

(Yes, I have Halo 2 for the 360...)

You cannot cross-platform play in Halo 2 Vista.

I noticed.... I just wanted to know why though. You can do it in Shadowrun and stuff, so I was just wanted to know why not for Halo 2.

The reason they didn't because then no one would want to here insessive whining from XBOX players from being beat by KBAM players. Also with Shadowrun, if you were dumb enough to buy it, has you locked at 30fps due to the huge advantage PC could have based on Frame Rates alone. Ask any pro CS that try to squeeze every bit of performance out. Not saying it sucks I just think that it's -blam!- that programers are unable to deliver 60frames per second on a system that has 3 symetrical cores. I know Devil may cry is able to do it. But level playing field is the same.

With that said the this would require a massive amount of tweaking on the part of bungie for the XBOX version (which they can't really invest in cause of H3) as well as hired gun. It's not that they are lazy but the game is 2-3 years old I think. Yeah not worth the time for the 56 extra players they would get. As far as I know it was NEVER promised to have cross platform multiplayer/

Ok cool.

One more thing though, I thought the 360 only locked the FPS at 30 if you are using 1080i. I heard that games go higher if you use 720p or 1080p. Is that true? I even did a test myself. I launched Test Drive Unlimited on 1080i, did a big donut causing a massive white cloud of smoke to emerge, it got very laggy. Then I switched it to 720p, did another donut, big smoke cloud, almost no lag.

Slaying noobs since 2007.

The reason that it's not cross-platform is because Bungie, yeah, that's right Bungie, would have to rewrite an extensive amount of code to incorporate GFWL, and that's doesn't even include the old xbox live system, people still play Halo 2 on the Xbox, so it goes with out saying it would be very difficult, and not worth the money spent. Now, stop posting in every thread not to get H2V because it doesn't support cross-platform play, we know.
