The only reason it happens on Halo 2 is probably because you're experiencing service dropouts so brief that they only affect something that constantly requires bandwidth, such as online gaming. Meaning, it happens other times, you just don't see it. The majority of the time you spend on the internet is looking at a page that has already been loaded into your computer's memory. I used to have a very similar problem as you, and Comcast denied it and blamed every bit of hardware in my house. They blamed my modem, then my router, then my ethernet cable, and finally the coaxial cable which they charged us to rewire. In the end, it turned out to be that they had a weak link somewhere on their end in my area and ultimately had no choice but to refund the fee they charged me to rewire my house.
