If you're reading this, you've probably got a pretty good life. You've got a computer, you've got some free time, and you've probably got a pretty loving family on some level, blood-related or not. So let's give something to the less fortunate. I'm asking you, the members of this forum, to donate to a good cause. It can be to a civil rights group, a hospital, the third world, etc. I'm going to give up my hard earned 50 dollars(it's all I have, trust me) to Child's Play.

Why are you still reading this? Go do some research. Find a cause you like.

My immidiate family puts money in a jar and gives it to a needy foundation place once a month. My bro. is in the Marines and gives 10% of his pay to M.S. victims, cancer cure foundations etc.

Pretty cool. I wish everyone could do this stuff.

It would have been nice if that Halo2 donation thing had worked. That would have been really special, but I guess I'll just have to donate somewhere else. I should go and give blood to the Red Cross sometime, that would definitely help someone out.

The way I see it, if someone is to self centered to lend money to something like that, then those jerks can keep their money. The foundations will be better off without someones money that had to be wrestled from its former owner. If people were more giving, some people would give a damn about others.

So true. It's not like anyone really needs all of that money to themselves. And to Galaga Junkie, keep up the good work!

Though i agree with giving to charity, it shouldnt really be neccessary, as the state should be providing for the needy (dont like that word , but i guess everyone know what i mean, ie the ill elderly ill, young etc)

There's a lot of problems right now, and the state can't always take care of everyone. I do understand where you're coming from, but it can't hurt. So let's give them a helping hand.

No, it shouldn't be neccesary, but it SHOULD be a natural thing. Giving shouldn't have to be taught. It should be natural. And yes, if the world was better, the state would be able to take care of those less fortunate then ourselves, but its not. There are things going on in states government and everything else, and we shouldn't wait for others to provide care that is obviously needed.

I wouldn't mind giving money to needy people but I don't trust the system

ex. the American Red Cross is a non-profit organization right but did you know the President of the red cross makes over 500,000$ a year and that he/she raises more money then the year before they get a bonus. and thats how it is for a lot of organization. Most of them have higher operating costs then the money/help they give out. I know I don't want to give money to an organization so that they can pay people who make a hell of a lot more money then I make.

So give blood, or give to another organization. Or go volunteer at a homeless shelter this Thanksgiving. I would have, but I'll be in Mexico.

Edit a long while later: I'm sad to see this topic die. It was a good cause.
