Your video card is holding you back.

Willing to upgrade? Give a price range and i'll hook you up.

Heyyo,

Ohh, yeah, an FX5200 is very low end dude, you'll wanna upgrade, or try a game more old-video card friendly like HL2, now THAT game has incredible optimizations, runs good on any machine as long as you set your graphics right. ;)

I suggest ATI, cause Halo seems to prefer ATI cards... check benchmarks if you don't believe me.

if you are considering a video card upgrade, you should also condsider upping your CPU. You want to keep your new video card happy. Also another 512 stick of RAM would help.

your comp beats mine in all aspects.... except internet and ram. get more ram.

(to teh other guys.... the 5200 plays halo ok, (lagless), but truly isn't the best)

Have you stopped all the other programs from running while playing Halo? Check your task manager, delete everything you don't need. I've found this makes a big difference.

You dont need a new CPU or another 512 Mb of ram, dont listen to that PC_GAMER_ANALYST guy he has no idea what he is talking about. Maybe he just trying to sell stuff.

Anyways a price range for a new vidoe card?

Also your internet is more than fast enough.

If its lagging in multiplayer as well as single player, get a new graphics card, preferrably GeForce 6800 Ultra Overclocked.

Heyyo,

LMAO@ Wazzle: eerr... you sure you know what you're talking aboot?

OK, Halo isn't very big on space demand, but due to incomplete optimizations requires a bigger cpu and stonger videocard than most games of its age. The cpu's fine if you don't wanna crank up your screen rez n' other things, and the RAM's good enough for HaloPC. HaloPC really only needs 512MB, but new games like Half-Life 2 and stuff, those have massive terrains, so require lots of RAM to keep up with it, HaloPC has pretty small terrains.

The videocard is the most imminent upgrade needed. A 6800 overclocked is just retarded IMO, cause it's already stronger than the game, no need to kill off your warranty for an extra 2-10 F/S.

512 MB of ram will run any new game great in conjuction with a new video card. The textures and models are stored in the video card, while the system ram stores audio data and other things. So the 512MB of system ram is fine,

The CPU he already has is perfecly fine, doubling a CPU's Mhz results in a very small percentage CPU performance increase.

check out my specs, you dont need more ram! its all good! but what you realllllly need to is get a brand new graphics cards, its probably the only thing that will ever hold you back from kick ass gaming, a bad video card.

go to http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec.hmx?scriteria=AA24830

I have this same card it is sooo good!!! go and get it!! only 140 bucks not a bad deal for a 9600 xt which is usually like 150 at the least.

Amen to ATi and the 9600 xt

Woozle
your right about the ram, I have the same amount and Halo runs great, as a matter of fact his cpu is quite fine actually, an upgrade to like 2.4 gigs or something will help a bit, he can see quite a jump, but for a bigger jump up he should get a new graphics card.

But anyways what kind of cpu are we talking about, if its an athlon xp, then its fine, if its a pentium 4 then yea frontline should upgrade it a little bit more depending on the cash issue.

Frontline, if you dont have much money, go for what realllly matters, your crappy graphics card.
