someone have a good opinion on what takes more skill sniping or rockets?

  • 07.18.2007 10:39 PM PDT

uh sniping. Rockets give you splash damage. Even if you miss them the first time you can shoot another one almost immediately and make sure they are dead. My friend cannot figure out how to snipe but he knows how to use the rockets.

Also, rockets will lock onto vehicles. its a little harder to snipe a person out of the hog than it is to just blow it up.

Obviously rockets. Imagine this scenario, 10 banshees are firing at you and you have severe handicap on for some reason, and you only have 2 rockets left. It would take a lot of skill to get out of that predicament.

Now imagine this scenario with the snipers. You are halfway across the map and the enemy is crouch walking to their base with their flag. You could easily kill him with 1 shot.

Sniping takes no skill at all.

Well, if they were very far away, getting a direct hit would be near impossible.

Or you could just specify what exactly you mean boney --overall, close-up, far away or what?

Personally when i think of snipe and rockets i think of Beaver Creek or ascension. On beaver creek sniping can sometimes be hard because people jump all over the place and seem to be able to hide behind all the rocks on the map. With rockets you just pick them up, point down and you are basically guaranteed a kill.

My last thread: Why Reach Sucks

<3 Foman

It's close, but im a great sniper, but a little lesseer with rockets. Because of the rediculous auto aim on the rockets, they actually become difficult to use in many situations. I say rockets are more skillful in some situations, and the sniper is in others.... so my final stance in neutral because i don't feel confident enough to argue it either way.

For me I gotta say sniper. Possible because any weapon with splash damage in any game I end up killing teammates (ex hammer on gears). The thing is they are used in different sittuations. On different maps you are going to get more kills with a different weapon. I just think that getting kills with a sniper on a small level is harder than if you use rockets on a large level. probably b/c someone who uses rockets long distance has some things to learn. Also looking at personal observations when you play an all sniping match it turns into a game of position and movement and takes a while. On the other hand all rocket games are all getting the first shot and suprise which ends up having a lot to do with when and where you spawm, these matchs tend to go a lot faster.

Well from my personal observations rocket games takes a great deal of tactics and strategy, while sniper games are just mindless running around headshotting people while crying NO SCOPE

People need to learn that there is a counter for almost every strat in this game. If some1 is no scoping back up and kill them from far away where no scoping is near impossible.

you can also camp and wait for a no scoper to run into your sights. I know a lot of people say camping is wrong but whatever its a tactic and if you can counter it too bad for you

Oh, the betrayals with the Hammer. I still maintain that it was their fault.

Here's a straight to the point proof about how sniper is harder.

If you had one shot with either weapon, the chances of getting one kill (with the average person!) with the Rockets is better than the sniper.

I win!

While you back up the no scoper is walking forward, thus no distance has changed. And even if you camp, the no scoper would just turn in your direction and kill you.

If you had 1 shot with the sniper, chances are you won't kill yourself, while with the rockets it takes skill to not kill yourself with them.

Back up? You say "Go" and --I've tried it-- the rocket shoots the ground directly in front of the corner and there's no where to go. You're dead.

I still win!

ok heres what you do if some1 is good at no scoping go to the other side of the map and find some where with only a couple entences. then when they come throw a lot of grenades. If you really can't counter a no scoper then you need to not play sniper matches

What corner? You can't just make up random places.

The sniper just shoots the 20 explosive barrels surrounding the player, and there's no where to go. You're dead.

I'm definitely much better with rockets. I kill TONS of people with them. Especially myself.

Well if the person is decent at no scoping, he can just shoot the grenades as it leaves your hand, killing you.

RIP Halo 2.

What? Give me a specific corner, with tons of details concerning the no scoper and the rocketeer.

You know what DL? I can't have a normal conversation with you.

I will once again, agree to disagree. (DL 2 Me 0 --I'll win one soon though)

Ok picture the first scenario only you have a sniper with two shots (plus you can lock on with rockets)
