I am not sure what he wants from us anymore. We have talked our fingers off about every topic imaginable. If there is something in particular that he is hoping we strike on I wish he would just let us know what it is. I am sure we, the forum folk, would be more than happy to participate in that discussion. Honestly, what is expected. The countdown to release is getting close. We are getting gitty (like lil school girls). I think we all want certain questions answered that do not involve the campaign story. The story being the one and only thing I think we all want kept secret. We could have addressed the online coop campaign problems. That is clearly the biggest red flag and question on this forum right now. I realize that Bungie maybe does not want to talk about forge too much until after the EGM release due to some agreement they might have. The online coop news however is definately bad news that we all would like to have some explanation of. We are not even asking for a solid "yes we will make it happen," or "it just isn't going to happen, sorry", but some insight into what the difficultiioes are.

There have been many good ideas posted lately. Most are ideas that have been expressed in the past somewhere, but come on, how many ideas are even possible. I think that this forum does a great job at coming up with a ton of ideas to sift through. I don't know how they expect us to come up with some ground breaking idea this late into the development. Most of the good ideas are already implemented.

Some good ones I have seen lately include: Radio contact through the headset; Map editor game types; Elephant game types; Visor color changes; etc. I also know that we come up with plenty of bad ideas. That is part of the process I would think.

Now we all agree that people need to use the search function WAY more. So let's keep that in mind before making a new thread. As it has been stated many times before "this is not a chat room."

Halo 3 is all of our babies. We all here love it. We are all excited, but right now we need to hold some of that excitement in. (Or at least off the forums)

Anyone who has new ideas that have not been beaten into the ground, please, feel free to post here. This might be a good place for us to start over. And Lukems, just let us know, or give some hints, as to what you want us to get into on here.

Thanks ...

I mean no offense, but what was the point in your post?

Besides, wrong forum.

Edit: Right forum, I originally read your post as a Halo 3 topic

He's an angry gorilla man. What do you expect?

He's encouraging thinking before posting in the Halo 3 forum, and trying to minimize repeat topics. I mean, maybe sometimes he's being a bit harsh, but really? If the police officer enforces the law, is he the bad guy?

I do understand both sides of this coin. I just think we have take into consideration the amount of anticipation that is coming with this game. It is obviously going to cause a mild amount of chaos. Makes it fun doesn't it?

Put yourself in his position.

Imagine being called constantly by telemarketers. Now imagine that they are all 12 years old and there are millions of them harassing you some sort of information. Imagine your PM box becomes useless because it is constantly flooded. Everyone asking you for anything and then acting like asses when you dont give it to them.

I would be pissed at the '"community" as well.

Lukems wants what all of us want in the Halo 3 forum, for people to pay attention, read the stickies, and respect the forum.

There are multitudes of topics in the Threads of Interest sticky, check it and post in an appropriate thread. Making a new thread should always be a LAST RESORT. Use the search feature. I locked 6 Co-op topics and am on the fence about 3 more, just for this morning.

Post with decent prose. If we have to read it twice to understand it, it's getting locked.

Don't post off-topic threads or spam. Threads like this belong in the Septagon, or in a PM to lukems himself if you really want to ask him a personal question.

I think that Bungie, and thus lukems, is going to tell us whatever they want. They don't have to disclose stuff about campaign, they don't have to tell us about multiplayer functions, and they don't even have to tell us anything at all. We're lucky to get the huge weekly update already, don't get picky and start begging for Co-op information.

Not if your lukems.

I imagine most of the Bungie staff are very close to posting "Leave us the f--- alone already, you'll find out on September 25th."

I just carefully re-read your post and I think that there may be a misunderstanding in play.

It seems that you are asking (for the most part) "WHAT do you want us to talk about?" and then list potential topics.

My take on Luke's recent edict was that the problem wasn't so much the subject of most posts in the Halo 3 forum, but the execution and quality of those posts. Of course there are topics that are "not a good idea to bring up" (leaks, copyrighted magazine scans, etc), but if I understand him correctly, he was dismayed by the lack of thought, the lack of civility, and the general devolvement of the forum into a mass of crappy text messages.

For example, your opening post here is coherent and makes separate points with supporting statements. It is not a "WTF do U want luke, my mom?!?!?!" rant but rather a concerned and well considered post.

Maybe that misunderstanding (topics of discussion -vs- level of discussion) is part of the problem?

understood...thanks

Mother pus bucket!

It's funny (but not ha-ha funny) that the problems being experienced in the H3 forum are very similar to the garbage most people hate on XBL - mindless chatter, mean-spirited flaming and just general jack-assery (things I've been guilty of myself at one time or another). This may also be the case in other forums but I don't visit them often enough to comment. Just like XBL, I doubt very much can be done to curb the behaviour aside from the banhammer... which is too bad.

"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt." Abraham Lincoln
"I've often regretted my speech but never my silence." unknown - help me out

Kudos to the mods for trying to return order to the forum. It's a nearly thankless job and one I do not envy.

I wonder what would happen if we spilt the H3 Forum into H3 Storyline, H3 Weapons and Vehicles and H3 Multiplayer forums.

Three chaotic forums instead of one.

If that's the case then lukems wasn't the only one. I've seen members post about how other annoying members start their topic off as WTF, OMG, Sp*m, etc. I personally can care less about lukem and his little rule. I guess he just want to increase the profession of this site or something equivalent to that. The pro that I see to this is the forums has decreased in their low leveled topic of discussion (referring to OMG,OMG,OMG).
