Cant decide if it would be good or bad

i know pc version of halo 2 has one but would you buy it as an add-on for the xbox?
Designing your own maps can be fun at times but sometimes it just ruins a game.

any thoughts

I would love it. Hopefully It would be like Farcry's map editer.

Кланяються мені!

i dont see how edited maps could be forced into matchmaking as once edited it would be saved as an entirly new map. However it would be impossible add on. For others to load the map they would have to download your custom map. This being there is no function in the game engine to generate maps. If it where already in the game, each custom map would have a set of code that would work through a mad generating function in the the game engine and spit out a temporary version of the map your playing on which would vanish after the game was over. Since there is no generator you would have to download your friends map, which i don't think is possible with out various other features that cannot be added into the game

No, only because Halo 3 is still a work in progress, until that is finished just no.

However it would be a great addition to Halo 3!

"Betcha can't stick it."

That would be awesome. I mean like putting a scarab tank on each side of map and a bunch of hunters, brutes, and flood to battle in mp. That's awesome.

apologies
i didnt mean if they brought it out now or even started working on one soon i know halo 3 is on its way and these guys are workin hard on that!
i meant the general idea of a map editor, leaving it up to yourselves to decide what exactly it would do.
should have explained this at the start so once again apologies!!

For the sane members, it should have been obvious for them anyway. People are quick to act, and attack, foolishly.

The concept of incorporating a map editing system in the game, either Halo 2 or 3, would be, and is, brilliant. It should be possible to do on a console since there have been FPS games on the PS2 and Xbox that already have this feature; which could actually be used online aswell, may I add.

Having the ability of creating personal maps prolongs the game's life span and gives players a chance to be highly creative. I remember Halo: Custom Edition for the PC. Some of the user created maps were bloody weird and poorly designed, however, there were some that were incredible and enjoyable to play; although, people could never create an appropriate sized map. There were levels that existed that were the size of a campaign map where, consequently, you'd only encountered another player every ten or more minutes.

Anywise, a good idea.
