It's nothing against British people, or Europeans, or Canadians, or Argentinians, or Japanese, or Russians.... It's just that it's hard to comply with all the rules and regulations for international countries at the same time. That's why it's usually just the US.
Yes. That's what we were told last time.
Unfortunately, that doesnt really hold any water when you're doing a contest to find the "World's biggest Halo fan."
Also, why is it harder? Canada isnt even included this time. It should be just as easy, if not easier to legislate for the entire EU as compared to the US, that'd cover just about half of the people currently unable to enter bungie competitions. Hell, why not just run seperate contests on each regional xbox.com/co.uk/.au/etc. site and link to them on bungie.net, surely the xbox's biggest selling title ever is big enough to warrent that level of attention from MS? Doing this just allows the general message of "Hi, we're bungie, we only care about the Americans" to spread around the internet. Hell, there was even an article in Kotaku about how vague and US-centric bungie is being about this thing. And they're right, there just seems to be a decided lack of effort from bungie to include the rest of the "Halo Nation."
("Halo Nation"?!? Whoever came up with that term deserves to be shot. We're the Seventh Column. Always have been, always will be. Halo is not bungie.)
