It might be a little out of place, but i was playin truth and reconciliation and noticed that it'd be great if halo 2 had a silenced sniper rifle or something else. It would have to be powerful or it would be useless so the sniper is probably the only thing that would work tho. tell me what you think.

Yes they could make a silenced weapon. Maybe the MA5B even. The Spartans in The Fall of Reach used silencers to great efficency. What Bungie could do it have you click what normally would be the Zoom button and instead a silencer is attached/removed.

Or something like the silenced sniper rifle in Return to castle wolfenstein: Tides of War.

Whew... for the sake of realism, the silencer should only be applied to a weapon with a very high rate of fire (SMG) or massive round (sniper rifle). Silencers work by muffling the sound and muzzle flash of a special subsonic round. The subsonic round has greatly reduced velocity (less range and power), making them useless against Elites. It would definitely be cool as an optional attachment for the SMG, though - imagine darting from shadow to shadow, taking out Grunts and evading the Elite until you can set up a 'neck-breaker.'

Let's see here....The US military has several Special Focres groups that use silencers on rifles. And the MA5B has a fast rate of fire. So please tell me why that can't be used? It would be nice. Now the silencer would lower the muzzle velocity, but that is the punishment you get for being quiet. As for the SRS99C S2 AM having one? No. At long range you can barely even hear the gun going off. Trust me, I've tested it.

Hikaru, I did not mean that it couldn't be done, I'm just saying that a silenced weapon would be pitifully weak against Elites and Hunters, and would force the player to expend more ammo on the Grunts and Jackals...

So my point is - get the lead out (SMG), or use a massive projectile (like a .50 cal pistol round) to incapacitate the target rather than a projectile that relies on high velocity to incur damage. The VSS Vintorez is a prime example of this - it uses an AK-47 round necked out to 9mm (a relatively large round) fired at lower velocity to incur the same amount of damage as loud unsilenced rifles firing 7.62x51mm FMJ rounds.

Edit again: This is why I love silenced AN-94s. The Russian 5.45x45mm round has a slightly deformed tip that gives it the best traits of FMJ and JHP rounds rolled into one...

actually, a subsonic round is not required, it makes it a lot quieter, but the silencer still works.

Yea, but with the Jackals' acute senses and the relatively close combat of Halo, you wouldn't want that, would you?

in 500 years they would probably have made it practical.. but then again they probably wont be using unguided ballistics..

They probably will for standard infantry. Just our bigger ships and junk will not.

Same here, but then again it is just a video game. Having every round you fire being guided would not be fun.

Hikaru's absolutely right. Pressing in the right thumbstick on the SMG would be a great idea for bringing up the silencer.

I'd also like to see something with greater accuracy with a silencer as well. In this way we'd be able to direct our fire at a Grunt's head for an instant kill. Perhaps this mythical pistol that they plan on introducing could have it.

There was something where Bungie said MC would be getting new weapons and "tools." Now if you would consider a silencer a tool then there is a chance it may be in. I wouldn't mind using a silenced weapon. The only thing is, the covenant are going to be looking around for YOU. Not for anyone walking around, but for you. This means that even if you use a silenced weapon, you're most likely going to be seen eventually.

Actually, I came up with a Silenced Sniper Rifle it is in a thread named Design your own weapon or something like that, I can't exactly remember just look around for it.

DeartGod If I Had A Silenced Weapon That Would Be All i Need, Othe Than that i would only need a few gernades just incase things got a bit dicey so that i could do everything in silence....

The weapons could use some additional functions. What do you mean by "mythical pistol"?

Well a silencer for a smg and a pistol would be good no to the sniper rifle I mean the noise from the rifle isn't going to give your possion away If you hit with a head shot they won't hear you because they are dead worrying about sound is pointless if you have the tracer that will give you away.
