Greatest of all time

The last game i played (check Dakilla Nick, my gtag) i went 20-8 in a team slayer game without host. The guy on other team was calling me a noob because i only had 1 medal, which was a killing spree. Since when does the amount of medals i have make me a good or bad player? It just means i wasn't beating people down or getting double/triple kills. But does that make me a bad player going 20-8 with 1 medal?

Medals don't equal skill. 20-8 is a good game and I'm pretty sure he was just pissed, just like most people are when they lose.

No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main; if a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friends or of thine own were; any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee.

Because a double + triple = killing spree.

And one medal means he only shot, he didn't beat down or use anything else. :P

Nonviolence never solved anything.

Medals are mostly luck. You will get a sniper medal if you happen to be holding a sniper. You will get an assassination medal if you happen to see an enemy in front of you. You're kill/death ratio is your skill. He was being a sore loser.

I think that kills show true skill, medals are just an added bonus. I would rather have kills over medals any day. The only medals that show some skill to me are killing sprees, running riots, etc. They show that you can kill and kill without dying and that takes skill.

There was a man from Allentown who fed his son to death.
He calmly watched him gorge himself until his final breath.
And there he stood, surprised and shocked above his tiny frame.
He said: "I bear no blame for this. I only share his name!"

They can both show skill, but I think number of kills is more important.

This was just a case or poor sportsmanship. I have had plenty of games where I had good stats and little if any medals. It is just that when some people lose they have to try something to revitalize their damaged ego. There is a growing group that seem to think that 2nd place is the new 1st place.

7/1/09 Bungie Favorites- RECON Devil
9/9/09 Bungie Favorites- Champion
5/22/10 HaloCharts Favs- Prey

medals don't measure skill they measure accomplishments. It's like a secondary objective. You don't have to get them, but you still can. It's fun to hear the announcer say killtacular

There isnt a single stat that Bungie offers you that shows true skill. You cannot judge someones true skill by looking at games.

For instance I may go completely negative in an objective game but my team still won because of what I did. I may have baited th other team and kept them busy while my team got in behind them or whatever else. Look at his K/D ratio. For all you know he may have superbounced with a BR and sniper and had host. He may have been rushing off racking up kills while he was giving the other team good respawns because of stupid aggressiveness. Youll never know unless you were actually there. You cant judge how good someone is unless youre playing with them.

at last, someone with a bit of common sense...........thankyou brock

Exactly..

YOU CANNOT judge someone 100% unless you were in the game with them. You cannot go onto someones games page and judge how good they are by looking at stats. Yes you can get a little info but not entirely what they are about.

I am just your average player you meet online and have no problem admitting that....i aint good enough and never will be to get into the mid to late 30's.......but ive had games in slayer where ive gone +18, games in team snipers where ive gone 27 - 5 etc...etc....and if anyone were to see these games, they would think i was pretty decent. I aint, im just an OK player. My K/D is 1.1 so nothing spectacular. You have to be in a game with that person over a period of time to get an idea of how good that player is. At the moment i only play slayer and team snipers and im 24 and 29 respectively in them playlists and ive been consistent enough to stay around these levels for about 4 weeks now. In doing so i recognise other gamertags that ive played before, so know how good or not so good they are.................

Basically like brock said above. Don't judge people by their game stats as sometimes it doesn't do justice ( especially team games )

Just go look at my games from last night. All of my ranked games I think I went negative in with very little objective work. That doesnt tell the story that I was playing with a migraine and could barely see the TV. The only reason I was playing is because my friends asked me to keep going. I just had to do the best I could for the circumstances I was under. That dosent make me a bad player....im actually very good, I just had a rough night.

Why the hell are you looking at this? Get out.

And no group invites, you jerk. I'm not interested.

Medals mark something of note happening. Having more medals does not mean you're better, but it does mean that you're a more fun person because you went around killing people in all sorts of ways.
