I have two problems with Halo. Before I start, no I dont really know the specific stats of my compter except that it has 1.50 Gh processor, intel pentium processor M, and since the computer is brand new and dell, the video card is probably 128 mb but the game handles sweet but it is not the way the comp handles the game that is the problem. My problem is that everywhere it should be pitch black it never is. Its a sort of light brown, not bad as in a problem but lighter than it should be, so I never need the flashlight. For example, in the level" Pillar Of Autumn " when I turn the corner were it is supposed to be really dark and there are two grunts waiting and on the screenshots I have seen, it is pitch black but not so when I am on the game. Also in the maintenence passages the air is more dark brown like dawn instead of black. And various other places.
The other problem is that my flashlight will not activate. The display image will turn on and show my energy draining from it but it wont actually show any light which at the moment is not to bad because it is never dark enough. When I activate the sniper and hit my F button the night vision will avtivate. But I also never need that because it is never quite dark enough. It is brighter than it should be like on the level " Truth and Reconciliation." When I am sniping it is obviously dark but not the kind of dark it should be. Just light enough to make it to bright. Just to make it clear, one will not notice that it is lighter where it should be pitch black except when looking and since I have played xbox I know that all these places should be dark. And where it should be light, it is perfect. It is not the gamma settings. I tried, it only changes the entire screen, not what I want specifically. I hope that someone can help me out. I have all the settings on high and pixels on medium since my comp can do that fine. But shadows, decals and something else is shaded out on menu. I hope there is enough description here to work with.

I think that's how its supposed to be, its never pitch-pitch black in that game, not even in the maintenance tunnels. As for the flashlight, use it someplace dark.

Chief Mark V is right, in the "pillar of autumn" level on x-box it’s a lot darker, this is due to the conversion from x-box to pc, most people never knottiest these things unless they’ve spent the time to compare them. But you are right as well the difference shouldn’t be that noticeable, try playing with the graphic and brightness settings or the graphics cards settings may be the problem if this has happend in other games. or if these dont help cheak the monitor settings in the "control panel" (xp) my freind once had a computer that was set to have low lighting efects for games but not normal use.
hope this helps ;)

I wouldnt notice the lighing difference except that since I have played xbox I know that it would normally be pitch black. But that still doesnt help me. Why wont the flashlight work? It doesnt turn on.
