I'm tired of playing games where it turns into a big race for the damned sword. Everytime I play on Lockout, or wherever, everyone runs for the sword, and more often that not, that person ends up winning, ESPECIALLY on head to head games.

The sword wouldn't be so bad if it didn.t have an unstoppable lunge attack.
Additionally, I've fired shotgun NUMEROUS times ipoint blank into another players chest, but it only succeeded in getting rid of his shield.

The sword totally ruins a big part of the game.

I really wish there was an option to turn it off.

It would be better if the person using the sword had 50% shield, or something.
It's far too unfair.

I fail to understand how Bungie can take out the zooming pistol, or the Fuel Rod Gun from the banshee, calling it "unbalanced", and then include the sword in maps like Lockout.

It's half way fair in Zanzibar- Anyone can see the fool going up there to get it. He's a sitting duck. But in games like Lockout, whoever spawns nearest to it, gets it, and usually wins.

This is so frustrating.

the energy sword kicks ass, i dont no what ur talkin about, u either suck or just hate halo 2 and want to complain about somehting. The energy sword is my favorite weapon, and its rather easy to beat, once you know the persons locations there done. On lockout i find him and make him chase me the the elevator, style thing then i turn on him fireing dual needlers as i back into the elevator, he either dies, or lunges and winds up on the next level with me and he has no shields... its easy stuff...

I've been around these parts for almost eight years now...wow! Maybe I should be concerned about that...

All you need to do is think of an imaginative strtatedgy, and your'e set!!( or screwed in ur case!!! ^^) Also remember everyone has the same advantage/disadvantedge as you... except the guy with the sword!!!

In that case, I challenge you to put your money where your mouth is.

Take me on on Xbox Live, ans we'll set up a match.

I'll use a sword, and we'll see just how many times I get killed.

Anyone game?

seriously. it's just a matter of keeping your distance. sure, the person that has the sword has an advantage, but you wouldn't be -blam!-ing if you had the sword.

I reckon the only time I don't like it is in a head to head game. With 10 kills in a head to head, it seriously puts the other player at a large disadvantage, and kind of makes the game cheap.

I will typically take the sword in my own hands for one reason... to protect it. I very rarely will use the sword because of the fact that I like to play with an advantage for BOTH players, not just the one with the ES.

I do have to agree, the sword under many circumstances is extremely cheap to use within the game.

"Well then you must suck"
"Keep your distance"

Typical response.

Like I said.

Put your money where your mouth is, and show me just how easy it is.

I'm still waiting for someone to take me up on this.

Are you a skilled player, who knows what they're talking about, or are you just a defensive fanboy?

Take me on.

I have a room ready and waiting.

We’ve watched while the stars burned
Out, and creation played in reverse.
The Universe freezing in half-light.
Once I thought to escape.
To end a master, step out of the
Path of collapse. Escape would make us God.
Yet I cannot help but remember one enigma,
A hybrid, elusive destroyer.
This is the one mystery I have not solved.
The only element unaccounted for.

It depends on the map. Anything but Lockout and you would die, but on Lockout you would probably win.

Exactly.

And what map do you see most frequently on a head to Head game?

Lockout.

all you have to have is the plasma pistol/sgm the plasma for his shield and the sgm for his health

It's just a matter of getting the right tactics.

A skilled sniper shot to the head will take out a player, sword or no sword. The trick is to master the art of close combat sniping.

A plasma pistol and a human pistol are a killer combo. 1 Charge will take down the shields, allowing a headshot with the pistol.

The smg/plasma rifle is a good combo too. So are the needlers if you have the distance.

It is possible to dodge a lunge, but it isn't easy. Also, watch your motion sensor, it will let you know where the oppersition is, so you can get into a good position.

A shotgun close shotgun shell in the chest does a lot of damage, throw a grenade to take down the sword guy's shield, then pop him the the chest just before he lunges you.

The fact that most people just charge you with the sword just makes it easier.

I don't think the sword breaks the balance in a game, there are other weapons/combos that are just as powerful.

This guy has a very valid point. I think the crux of the matter is that all sword kills are essentially skill-free and the lunge makes it impossible to retaliate effectively no matter how skilled a player you may be.

I think everyone arguing against his point is thinking 'Hmm... well if I see someone at the other side of the level with the sword, I can pretty much guarantee they'll be dead and not me. This guy doin' the complainin' suxx!!!' Or thereabouts.

On lockout you spend most of your time close to each other. You see the bloke with the sword, he's probably close to you already and waiting for his reticule to turn red while you're pointlessly shooting at him.

All kills with the sword or rocket require little or no skill.
