what are you gonna do in halo 3? you'll have no skill. you will try to BxR and get screwed. The shotgun takes more skill then pressing 2 buttons and pulling the right trigger.
I'll tell you what i'm gonna do in halo 3.
First i will be in a position where me and my team can cover eachother, and the map.
then when i see you i will communicate to my team "noob with a shotgun by BR cave"(<<<for the sake of argumen)
then me and my team will each put two shots into your head, and you will die before you even get close enough to shotgun me.
after that we will procede to destroy your pathetic team and rank up.
your not getting the point of what he said, he means if for some reason in a game when i have the shotgun and you have a BR you shuld not win by using your BxR, the shotgun is a close range weapon not the BR, it is entirely unfair that you get a chance to kill me when i should have the complete advantage, for all purposes of balance and gameplay it is extremely bad that someone with a weapon which only exists for close combat gets beat when in close combat with someone who has a mid-long range weapon, it totally whipes out the need for that weapon.
because i live in the countryside in england my internet is not at its best, so when i have shotgun against either a BxR or another shotgun or sword or w/e and im almost certain to loose, in a LAN match when connection is not an issue shotgun is fine and kills people perfectly. same happens with the sword, everytime i lunge in an online game i will either see myself fly towards the enemy and have my position reset when i know i hit them or something equally as random and frustrating.
onto the main point of this thread which is partly the same as the last paragraph, when i have a br and the enemy is more than 10 meters away my br shots never hit/kill them, i try aiming at them and none hit i try leading them and it still doesnt hit. i dont have this problem in LAN matches. within 10 meters its more auto aim than skill all you need to do is follow the enemies head which still doesnt take much skill with the amount of aim assist. if i get shot once by a br and i try to jump down off of the wall im on away from the person shooting me i see myself get below the wall then the last shot of their BR which i know should miss and hits me. on the rare occasion im host, i find it alot easier to kill anyone with a BR or shotgun ETC. i even find sticking alot easier when im host. it may seem like im blaming all my loosing and bad skill on my connection which isnt really bad but it is compared to americans, but on halo 3 everything i found to give people with good connections advantages seemed to work alot better for me. (i dont have bad skill i just dont have a connection that can put my real skill into practice, because of my connection i am really inconsistant((inter brackets)my consistancy also relys on which colour im on my k/d on red is 1.1 and on blue is 0.9)some games i go +10 others i go -10 most games i come out even)
and to the Op posting about an answer to the question 'spawn killing will be worse', the one asking the question was asking about people on the recieving end of spawn killing. ever been on tombstone blue base spawn? with the BR spawn, the people at blue base can hardly move without being killed when against a near good team.
the mechanics of the game will need to be changed alot to make the game balanced, halo 2 was fun for a last gen game but we have come to the next gen of gaming now, halo 2 has done a good run for the past 3 years but now everyone wants more and its too close to the release of halo 3 to need to change anything significant about halo 2. you could say halo 2 was a mid gen game for everyone to transfer from last gen to next gen, now were at next gen we need something new to live up to next gen standards. (P.S why is it next gen when were at it now? shouldnt it be called current gen)
(flame proof suit on just in case)
No you shouldn't have a 100% advantage, if you miss shotty blast because you suck, then there's nothing wrong with your opponent having a chance to kill you. Now that's balance.
