Its unfair how the spawning weapons that are duals dont stand a chance any other weapon , duels are really only effctive at close range or against other duels

Blah. This thread is pointless. With halo 3 coming out in 2 months why change halo 2 now? Seriously, just play the game how it is. TWO MORE MONTHS IS ALL YOU HAVE TO TAKE WITH THE SMG MADNESS.

Oh btw, just throw random grenades until you can find something other than an SMG. xD

Simple:
There is no "ideal spawning" weapon available in Halo 2 both on LIVE and splitscreen, such as the AR in Halo 3. The SMG is a horrible gun regardless (everyone who analyzes weapons will agree that overall it has very limited use and it not that effective, unless you play against unskilled/stupid people). The BR is also too powerful with its very heavy auto-aim and bullet magnetism; however, the power of this weapon is unquestionable. It is much more practical in almost every scenario when compared side by side with the SMG; therefore rending the BR to be better but not PERFECT to spawn with.

To those who think they know so much about this game, listen to this, in all games (regardless of Team Slayer/Skirmish/FFA), it comes down to weapons (assuming that your playing against somewhat astute opponents) and how much impact it has when your entire team dies and you spawn with your SMG against someone with another weapon/combination. You can not win games against decent opponents with your SMG. It is simple, SMG is weaker then BR, BR + 'nade =instant death, 'nade + SMG =death soon (or very long time if opponent is further than five or seven feet, especially without host).

The BR is not a very good substitute for the SMG, but it is much more practical. Oh and I do play Hardcore, but I have trouble finding games for some reason :-x.

have done the test on the Battle rifle and Assault rifle in halo 3 and both weapons are..

1. Both weapons are capable of close and mid range combat except the AR is more effective for close range and the BR for med range similar to the M16 and M4 rifles in real life
2. Both do the same damage excluding headshots per bullet (1 bullet not burst of 3 )

If all bullets hit...
BR total bullets to kill aiming at body 17 total bullets to kill aiming at head 12
AR total bullets to kill aiming at body 17 total bullets to kill aiming at head 17


That's pretty cool and many people liked the AR a lot in Halo 3, why no BR in Halo 2? The SMG just does not work.

For starting weapons, I prefer the BR over the SMG because if you play a big map, spawning with the SMG really sucks, and guys with sniper, BR, or Carbine pick you off so easily.

See, when I agreed that the Battle Rifle should be the spawn weapon for Halo 2 I didn't mean that they should change it now (because like you guys said Halo 3 comes out in 2 months) but I was just stating my opinion that it would work better. And I don't think it eliminates dual wielding at all. When my friends and I play I have a gametype set for Battle Rifle primary and SMG secondary weapon spawns and I still use dual wielding against them (and they do it to me). We usually kill each other or get close to killing each other with dual wielding before the enemy has a chance of killing us with a Battle Rifle.

I've also realized that the Battle Rifle stops dual wielding most of the time unless it's close range or if the person dual wielding doesn't use inaccurate weapons at middle to long range (like SMG's ). I usually use just needlers and maybe the occasional plasma rifles at middle range and it doesn't do bad at all. Usually whoever I'm facing takes cover because I have twice the fire power and I've almost killed them or done good damage to their shields.

And about the sniper (yes this may be an arguement from a few pages back), if you're good with the sniper then you kill them before they can kill you. Most of the time when we're sniping each other we take cover from getting hit with the second sniper shot and dying instead of shooting back with our Battle Rifle. Then we have to find the sniper and effectively attack him otherwise we're pinned to a corner where we can get double teamed. And usually that isn't the case, usually we have a general direction to look for him in but then we get headshotted when we pop out of cover to find him so it doesn't matter if we have a Battle Rifle. Good sniping (in my opinion) is being in places that aren't obvious (so that people don't know exactly where you are all the time), effectively sniping someone (usually without them knowing where you are) in that location, and then moving on to a new location so that they have no clue where you are.

P.S. We don't use Battle Rifle button glitches, just to let you know.

Bungie must change the starting weapon in halo 2 to BR as soon as possible so players can get the most and perfect balance out of halo 2 till halo 3 comes out.

Dual weilds are only for close range combat *nothing else* BR is versitile.


Actually, dual wields might be INTENDED for close combat but that doesn't mean they are only for it. I think that plamsa rifles and needlers are just fine at middle range and I'm able to kill people without that many problems. The weapons in Halo 2 are never only for something. They are just intended for something. Like snipers, they aren't only for long range (and maybe some middle range), they were made with that in mind but then you see someone using a sniper at point blank 1shot killing everyone and you realize that the sniper isn't only for long range for that person, it's every range.

And yes, I would agree that the Battle Rifle is versatile. It's one of the most versatile weapons in the game, which is why I can halfway agree with you when you say that they should make it Battle Rifle spawns. But I would rather have a more developed Halo 3 then have a Battle Rifle spawning Halo 2. Although it wouldn't stop them from developing Halo 3 that much...

theres still bxr in halo 3 its called melee jump back and shoot in the head its just not as quick you cant say theres no bxr in halo 3 maybe bar

There IS no bxr in Halo 3 (at least not right now). You just proved it yourself by calling it the BAR. Plus this "BAR" takes A LOT more skill then bxr. First, you have to get close enough to melee the guy without dying, then you have to jump back away from him before he kills you, and then you have to get a headshot and make sure he doesn't kill you. If someone tried that on me compared to the bxr then they would either be dead (probably 90% of the time) or at least have barely any shields compared to totally raping me right when they see me.

what are you gonna do in halo 3? you'll have no skill. you will try to BxR and get screwed. The shotgun takes more skill then pressing 2 buttons and pulling the right trigger.


ppl who refuse to bxr or rrx almost always, 99 % of the time, suck at BRing accurately, using teamwork and team fire, calling out player and weapon locations, using good tactics, and using grenades effectivley. i bxr and rrx, and i completlley owned in the beta, i had over 10,000 kills, around 4000 to 5000 deaths,got a 50 in ts and a 47 in rumble pit, and got 350 rp, all without my glitches. now i'm not saying ranks indicate skill, because they don't. but they do to a certain extent seeing how your average player can't get past a certain rank. all i'm saying is ppl that glitch in h2 are almost always better in every way than ppl who don't. so don't be surprised when the h2 glitchers destroy you in h3, much like i, and so many other h2 glitchers desrtoyed in the beta.

Pros use glitches and they are pro because they are good at every aspect of the game, not because they glitch

SMG and BR both suck as starting weapons. I don't see why we don't just spawn with rockets.

Definatly BR. You can bxr at close, double shoot from semi far, and shoot from far. It's the best all around weapon.
