Subject: Halo2 Questions that Bungie can SAFELY answer

I'll be on my own side.

yeah if it causes Halo 2 to be pushed back, then forget it. Halo 2's graphics are so damn good that they're pretty damn close to CG quality

and im saying this based on screenshots from a game that still has 6 months of development time.

Wow, im the only one who voted for the mud/water splashing on the visor...I think it would be cool

I think it's annoying as hell...I don't like it when anything obstructs my view. Do you get mad when someone walks in front of the TV? Of course you do! The mud/water affect would be like the person blocking the TV except you couldn't punch your way to visibility. There is a line between REALISM and FUN. And the game should always be leaning towards fun.

very true. i think that Steel Battalion demonstrated this very well. you even had windshield wipers to clean it off. it just doesnt really work in Halo, given the quick pace of the game, especially on Legendary. just imagine going up and capping a Grunt, just to have your visor splattered with sky-blue crap, all the while trying to fight off a wave of Elites and Jackals

I love them all. I wouldn't mind the swearing. Can't stand all those annoying bleeps.
Blood and dirt on MC's visior would be cool, and so would playing polka music in the Warthog.

It doesn't sound like you guys have played Metroid Prime, they had the splash visor effect with alien blood, water, etc, and it gave the game a very cool effect, not at all like you think it would be.

  • 05.31.2004 9:26 PM PDT

I'll be on my own side.

yes i have played Metroid Prime, and i love the effects, and i hope they put it in Halo 2,as long as it doesnt obscure the view

Someone said stuff should only hit the visor once shields are down, I agree with that.

yeah that works,if Bungie is really striving for realism, which they should be doing

Wow, this is one of the best and smartest threads ever. Voted number one, because if you were sniping? You could see where the guy is looking - then boom!

And yes, polka music would be great. Imagine being run down by a polka hog.

Play BANANA PHONE over and over again, pychological warfare.

i voted 3 because i really want some custom tracks in-game; but i would have wanted them to answer:

Will there be split-screen LAN play like in the original Halo?

(if someone could answer that for me i'd appreciate it)

  • 06.01.2004 4:20 PM PDT

I'll be on my own side.

why the hell wouldnt there be???im sure Bungie wants the game to appeal to all Xbox gamers, and not all of them have Xbox Live,so there has to something for people limited to offline play

Hikaru, in one of the updates Frankie said that they were doing something where you could watch an entire battle in the reflection on a grunt's eye. I'm not sure which update, but I'm sure it was there. It would be that hard anyway, just put what they see on their visor.

yeah it was confirmed.i think it was a cinematic they were talkin about.maybe theres gonna be CG scenes in Halo 2???that should be one of the voting options. CG+Master Chief = *drool*

Sorry to double-post, but Halo 2 graphics are already fine as cinematics. Plus, it's always been that way, and it's been just fine. A CG Halo movie, YES! In-game cutscenes? Not bad, but unnecessary...

i know that the graphics are already damn good, but maybe the ending cutscene could be in CG??

WOah..lots of quotes.

Personnely, i like it when the game cinematics uses the same graphics and textures of the game. I don't know why, it just appeals to me more.

Sure is a lot of quotes

I Honestly don't see how a perspn that claims to be a Christian can say Cursing doesn't effect them. I hear it 24/7 and I still can't stand it. Just because there is war, it doesn't mean that they are going to curse. It's just understandable if they do. To have the option of removing it from the game helps gets it into Churches and such. We played it at my church for a LONG time, then we heard a curse word out of nowhere. We figured we heard it wrong and continued to play. then we heard it again. We stopped playing because we didn't want the teens to hear it. Vilonce is a Big part of Life. The Holy Bible is Loaded with it. "Hell" is refering to the Actural Pysical Hell. And "Ass" is refuring to a Jackass (donkey). They are not used as profanity. The VERY WORST thing Bungie could di is include the "F" word in the game. If they are dumb enough to add it to such a fantastic game, then they should at least be kind enough to add a Disable Option for it. I refuse to play Riddick because of that word. And I was really refuring to playing it. (I played the demo).
If curse words don't bother you, and you are a Christian, then I suggest reexamining your faith and dedication to it.

i do happen to agree that there should be a filter for the game. there's no sense in excluding impressionable youth. but your reasoning is, quite frankly, laughable.
what you're basically saying is that being an unstoppable killing machine is ok, so long as there is no profanity. who said this was well thought out again? last i checked, not killing was a commandment whereas not using profanity was, well, not included (except for using your lords name in vain, of course). man, this is the absolute funniest -blam!- i've read in a good long while. the point of the game, and most any other first person shooter, is to kill. so why are you taking offense to a few curse words? what about the blood staining the floors/walls/ceiling? what about setting up with the sniper rifle and waiting for a clear head shot? what about corpse humping? i'm sure there's something against necr0philia in the bible, no? you said violence is a big part of life. does that mean it should be accepted and embraced? so then why are curse words to be treated any differently? curse words have been incorporated into the vernacular of nearly everyone i have ever known.
if these things don't bother you, and you certainly claim to be christian, then perhaps you should reexamine your dedication and faith to it.
i for one won't be losing any sleep over any -blam!- curse words.

Dont tempt a flamewar fencr, its someones personal opinion.
In game swearing is ok as long as it isnt OTT like kingpin.

As for the blood 'n' stuff to hit the visor...no. It just wouldnt work effectivly unless you were looking from inside the visor like Metroid Prime.

No, I'm not Imprassing Viloance. But you have to remember, Halo is a Video Game. The Violance is FAKE. It's Really hard not to notice that. But Curse Words (in any form) Is Real. I'm not saying that the Disable feature (if there is one) should replace the curse words with a "BEEP." That'll make the presesnce of the obveace. The disable feature should fill that Curse word space with Emptyness. At leaset that way, with all the noise around, it'll be less obvease. And having a Disable Feature In the Game allows the player to Disable curse words at will. That means, if you don't mind them, then don't disable them.
In Franks Last update ( I think it was the last one), he quoted a Phrase for a Marine in Halo2. The Phrase ended with a "F" word. Frank didn't conform or deney it was a Curse word or acturally "fudge." With words like that in a game, there should be a Filter for it. Just like most games have a Filter for Blood.
The Violence in Halo is Justified, because it is War. And killing in war is SELF DEFENCE. The Bible promotes that. But Not Mindless or Revenge killing. No I don't promote Violence, just self Defence.

What's annoying is hearing Mindless Cursewords and sex in Nearly every Game!
Nothing eer came from Religion?!? I suggest you re-read your Social Studies book again. Religion has had a HUGE positive impact on History. Columbas was a christian. and followed it to ended up discovoring America. America was FOUNDED on God and His Teachings. That's why we have the Freedom we have today and other countries are starving and dieing. If it wasn't for religion, you wouldn't be sitting at your computer expressing the FREE Speech you have. I agree, that not Al good has come from religion. But that's thanks to Fools that streach and add to the Scriptures to suite their needs and wants. Hitler claimed God commanded him to destroy the Jews. That was a Lie. Because God iIS perfect. And He would NEVER command to have His people distroyed in Cold Blood. I could go one, but I won't because the possitive History of Religion is not the subject of this Thread.

I can answer a few for you.

1. This would burn away too much CPU power, and would drop the framerate. So no
2. not sure
3. Now this is what I am personally hoping for. Something like Battlefield: Vietnam where you can play music from the game (music that is implemented into the game) while in vehicles, and others can hear it blazing as well. It would feel more realistic. I also hope for custom soundtracks
4. i hope
5. Now this would also be impossible. Bungie would have to issue a editor kit, which is unheard of for consoles
6. I know sparks bounce from the MC's visor when being shot at... But thats it
7. Halo 2 is rated mature, why would you want to?
