For all you Halo 2 fanatics, why was the pistol unfair in H:CE? 3 shots, very little magnetism, leading was required, and it was hard to really master. The BR, on the other hand, is four shots, high magnetism, leading is nearly non-existent and is relatively easy to master. Why is the pistol "unfair"? Don't flame anyone for their opinions. I know this post is obviously biased, but if you have valid reasons for why it takes more skill (Not "OMG NUB BR IS TEH BETTERZ." or "H2 is better, duh!") then please, post away.

Also, I realize there have been rumors about extreme customizations to magnetism, auto-aim, and even weapon damage. I'm just saying, as default, would you want the old pistol back?

Why the hell are you looking at this? Get out.

And no group invites, you jerk. I'm not interested.

The CE pistol's unfair in Halo 2. And probably would be in Halo 3.

They wouldn't introduce a direct clone of the weapon's stats, so there'd be the same magnetism as a rifle.

To above: Why is it unfair?

Because it's a different system. While it may flow properly in Halo 1, it certainly would cause problems in Halo 2.

Oh stfu the stupid pistol is gone. Stop crying about it. The skin of the pistol is back but it won't be as powerful as the pistol in Halo: CE

Geez, stop whining about the pistol, its been gone for years now and it aint coming back...it was a broken weapon that made all other weapons pointless,i loved it too but i also love dual wielding and all the other new features of halo2,the first halo was called combat evolved,it has,so why dont you folow suit.

There was a man from Allentown who fed his son to death.
He calmly watched him gorge himself until his final breath.
And there he stood, surprised and shocked above his tiny frame.
He said: "I bear no blame for this. I only share his name!"

It is fair, but ruins gameplay. Everyone would use the one weapon. The new pistol is balanced.

Never eat yellow snow, unless of course, you spilled your Mt. Dew!

The pistol was by no means hard to master. Going into Halo 2 I am sure Bungie wanted to create situations where people were using more of a variety of weapons. Thus, more weapons were available, dual wielding added, and pistol tuned way down. The only mistake I see in Halo 2 as far as weapons was unlimited sword. No other weapon had limitless use so why should the sword?

That's not exactly what I was saying. I was saying, if they were able to re-tune Halo 3 for some magical reason, would you consider the pistol a balanced starting weapon. If not, why? If so, why?

EDIT: Oh, and GG. "It's unbalanced." Great reasoning. :P The system thing was probably the best post in this thread yet, though it wasn't exactly the kind of statement I was looking for, it was good reasoning. :)

Oh, and keep up the good not-flaming work.

Yes, as long as the br and carb could kill just as quick which means you might have to make it a 4 shot. But you and I both know it's a pipe dream anyway bro. Why would you even start this thread here, this forum has one of the worst communities online, it's going to be h2 herb flame time.

Not as long as the kill speed/distance weren't any greater or less than BR/carb.

It was unbalanced and made the game into a pistol fest. I felt that got old FAST and just was not fun. As accurate as a sniper rifle with the strength to kill a tank. Absolute bogus.

Don't say the BR is just as unbalanced as the pistol because that is wrong. The BR is less accurate and since it's a 4SK if you hit the opponent every time, with every bullet of each burst in the head, it's a lot harder to pull off 4SK's. I hardly played Halo: CE and the pistol was not hard to learn how to use. 4SK were super easy and 3SK weren't "hard". I felt it got boring fast because there was no reason to use any other weapons.

Dual wielding in H2 really made sense and made sure that the BR wouldn't be the completely dominant weapon. I still play custom games, MLG rules, and pick up an SMG for those medium-short range battles and it works like a charm.

So, the pistol coming back as a starting weapon would, in my opinion, just make Halo 3 into Halo: CE for the 360 and I'm not paying $60.00 to play Halo: CE with better graphics. I'm paying to play a game with a more fair and balanced multiplayer system without this one dominating weapon that doesn't make any sense at all.

Everybody says that it's unbalanced and all that, and compared to the other weapons, it was a little powerful. For me, though, having such a powerful pistol just made the game a little dull and dreary. I like using a wide variety of weapons and in H:CE it seemed like it was always just a pistol fight.

The gameplay in H:CE was fun but after a while it just got monotonous and a little boring. It was just pistol fight after pistol fight after pistol fight. I just like the wider variety of good weapon options.

the CE pistol is perfectly fair. people dont understand what fair and unfair are as well as the difference between cheating and being cheap. so i'll clear it up. unfair is basically the same as cheating where you use a weapon to gain such a great advantage or you superjump. being cheap is also being fair because if you get the sword it dosn't mean your bad or ur a noob all it means is that you got the power weapon first. besides normally when you kill the sword guy you pick it up.
any way back to the pistol. it should come back because the halo series takes place about 550 years from now, we have intergalactic travel and were fighting a group of alien race determined for galactic destruction. You would think thier would be an armor piercing bullet that explodes almost on contact, with a scope attatchment
EDIT: all bungie would have to do is make it so the pistols range is less and mayb a little less accurate.

I didn't know you went here, too. I'm here for the fun of it. :)

It's not unfair. The only problem with it is it has far less disadvantages than all the other weapons. It was an important part of halo 1, but they haven't gone for the same balance model in 2 and 3, and retroactively inserting a weapon like that would create problems.
