Glitching: Glitching is an integral part of any competitive gamer's repertoire. I'll go in-depth right now. :)

It's button-glitchers like you who have ruined this game for the rest of us who want to follow the game rules as Bungie originally set up. What you do in customs or elsewhere is your own business, but the cheating inevitably comes to matchmaking. You, and the rest of you cheaters, talk smack like you're "so good", when in fact you're manipulating the controller and game engine to gain an unfair advantage over others who are playing correctly.

You're obviously not good enough to play this game legitimately, and have to cheat. Go back to the hole you came from.

No offense, but its only the players with a lack of skill that complains about button glitching.

0WN3D

DL would poop all over you without any button glitches.

This unit may wreck, or explode at any moment.

If your wife or girlfriend cheated on you, could you justify it, if she told you that anyone can do it? And since she got away with it, it must not be cheating? If not, you should rethink button glitches, mods and all of that, because thats what you sound like. MLG allows it to make the game more exciting to spectators, and thats what bring in the advertising dollars. Are slam dunks necessary in the NBA, no, but that brings the spectators and the money. If you play halo for money I have no problem with it, but if you don't you cheat, end of story.

Why did you make this thread? Threads like this are the reason people on Bungie.net hate MLG. They think all we do is use "button glitches." This thread does nothing but make the problem of MLG-haters worse.

Eat it

You know what's awesome? NONE of that stuff will be in Halo 3! Everyone rejoice! We can play the game THE WAY IT WAS MEANT TO!!!!

Wow, because everyone knows real life and video games are exactly the same. Ask the V Tech shooter, or Columbine duo. GG.

To RedHound, I don't mind the glitches not being there. I use glitches as a last-ditch, or preventative, effort to save myself from dying. I usually end up dying, anyway, because another teammate from the other team helps out at the last second. Really, I quit Halo 2 because there were so many glitches. (Not button glitches, per se, but 10 attempted assassinations and none of them hit, lunging melees, other BS.)

To the people talking about glitching like it's the end of the world, think about it this way: what competitive game doesn't "break the game" so to speak? Is wave-dashing illegal? Is juggling in most fighters illegal? What about a move that's not meant to be unblockable but ends up being so? What about certain plays and lanes in football games that almost always work (because the game isn't programmed to read that particular lane as well, for some reason)?

If a glitch, or character, or whatnot is outlawed in the tournament, then it's just that. If you're playing by a competitive standard, you play by those rules. Hiding the flag in MLG is illegal-- but is it a "glitch" according to bungie, even though you shouldn't have the ability for the flag to clip through buildings?

The thing is, in a particular situation, what YOU define as "cheap" is actually more of the way a loser reasons out their losing. In a competition, if X is not specifically banned, it is legal. If it gives an advantage, X will surely be used.

Tell me, is it "cheap" for us to be eating foods that are man-made, since that's not the way it was "intended" to be done? Or, what about vaccines? Surely we should just be getting sick and dying rather than using the rules, bending them, and then making them sway towards our advantage.

Your slippery slope argument doesn't hold water. At all.

Not true. I'm not here to brag, but I finish in the top 3 places of the majority of matches I play, and I'm not a big fan of button glitching.

I know my point is'nt a strong one because anyone can say that there good at this game( in fact, most players do ) but still, it's not right when you're winning a fair firefight and the opposing player whips out one of these tricks on you. Feel free to learn these moves, and using them in unranked matches or custom games is much more acceptable. But for the love of Bungie, don't use them in ranked matches. That's what pisses me off, and I'm sure a great number of others would agree with me.

Well I have honestly never met someone in a matchmaking game who complained about me using those glitches.

Then you just don't use it often enough for anyone to notice to an extreme extent. Whenever I use any of these, purposefully or not, I'm always pointed out for doing so.

Meh, I guess I'm just not as sneaky as you.

Well half the glitches I use aren't noticeable. Such as auto reload, quick switch, quick reload etc.

  • 07.26.2007 10:38 PM PDT

I play to win, not to survive.

Well yeah, a quick reload after a gun out is much more acceptable then a BXR everytime you get too close to someone. Those just drive me crazy. Even so, every little advantage keeps you ever so closer to the top of the list, and it's ultimately unfair.

Yeah, so unfair that you don't bother to learn it. How dare they take the time out to master RRX and leave you sitting there going, "That's not fair! I can't do that!"

As a side note, who really cares about rank?

I can't wait for Halo: CE-Better Edition. (I don't know if that's possible. Maybe slightly better graphics and animations, plus 16 players and an addition of Midship.)

This is an anti MLG forum sir and probably not the best place to locate such a guide.

But don't let that stop you sir. XD

I would suggest that you make a much more detailed description of strategys because "Beginners" as you label this guide to be intended for may not know the names of map locations and techniques.

This guide as it is now is useless to anyone who doesn't already know these techniques and their pros and cons and map location names.

At the moment this just has a big "I'm gonna teach you guys how to cheat" sign painted all over it.

I would also include a warning against using glitches in matchmaking sir.

Even if you don't agree with it yourself it is still Bungie's rules and these are still Bunge's forums.

Yes very good well done.

Care to explain the point you were trying to make now?

  • 07.27.2007 1:27 PM PDT

I belive ranked games are much more competitive due to the opposing players ( and hopefully your teamates ) have an equal or more amount of skill than you do. The added element of trying to get the top adds much more than gameplay into the match.

It's the gamers who play for the challenge who care about rank. Feel free to enjoy your custom games where you can easily gain an advantage with any amount of glitches you prefer. But fair fights are for ranked matches.

Well, in my mind the glitches were programmed into the game BY Bungie, which should make them 'legal' in ranked games and what not. If you're complaining about not being able to do one, then take the time to learn it instead of whining about other people doing it.

And I don't want to get bashed around here by people saying things like "Oh you only think this because you can do button glitches."
Yes, I can do SOME button glitches. And it takes practice to master them. So you take the time to practice these and stop complaining.

-sigh- First post on Bungie forums feels good.
Point made?
