I know that i chose completly hate them because they usually camp at spawn points so you spawn and die. They are also really annoying in swat because they kill you in 1 shot and you can't do anything about it.

I'd Rather Be A Smartass Than A Dumbass

There is a distinct difference between camping and spawn camping sir.

Where is the option for "I camp"

I don't hate campers because if i did, i would hate every person that plays XBL. The people that the OP hates are spawn campers, not people that just camp at a base with power weapons. Just about everyone has done that in order to win a game.

  • 07.25.2007 10:13 AM PDT

uh is it just me or is spawn killing a good tactic and can lead your team to victory? If i play swat on midship and camp in the middle right under the sword i can usually spawn kill quite a bit. Oh well. i guess i camp. whatever wins.

One of my Halo 3 montages.

spawn killing is different than camping. spawn killing can be cheap sometimes, but camping is tactics. just because someone doesn't run out in the open to get killed all the time doesn't make them cheap, it's smart. campers usually have a better kill / death ratio......go figure.

Standing around half the match is no fun. Winning means nothing, it's the action which I find enjoyable.

The definition of a fair fight is a fight I win. Camping is a good tactic a lot of the time.

well standing around or sitting in one spot may not be fun, but players that camp certain spots for tactics is smart. you may enjoy running out in the open and others may enjoy finding a safe spot and doing work from there. it's all preferance.

lets be honest, if your team has a sniper and some close range weapons ,ex. swoprd or shotgun, why wouldnt u camp an area and force a team to first make it by your sniper, then secondly have to come in close quarters with othe others, seems like a good idea to me, ulthough personally i love running in an causing mayhem

Camping is a smart tactic, I've never played a CTF where both sides weren't camping either to defend or clear a path to the other base.

In Team SWAT or Slayer with Shotguns it's a smart bet to camp at certain blind choke points.

Anyone who is a dedicated sniper is a camper.

I don't mind if they do it because I do it too sometimes. The majority of the time when I do it is when half my team quits and we are in the lead. The only people that I don't like are the spawn campers.

"The best part of waking up is not Folgers in your cup but knowing Chuck Norris didn't kill you in your sleep."

There are some instances when it is a very tactical move. If you are camping spawn locations that is a bit unfair. However if there are a bunch of people defending the upper hallway on Ivory Tower that is their tactical decision. It is always going to be easier to defend than attack. People hate it just as much as they hate the snipers but it doesn't make it any less valid.

This topic is off topic in the halo forums. If you want to discuss camping go to a hiking forum, not a forum about halo. Camping has nothing to do with halo.

well i can be a camper but i sort of hate them but its just strategy the best way to win a defense capture the flag round just camp at your flag or if you are outclassed you have a decent chance of winning if your smart and yes there is a difference between spawn campers and campers just find a sniper point or if you hide on a ledge and your hidden and they are dumb enough not to check its their own fault...spawn campers are just noobs that cant get kills out of skill

Location: Outlaws' Summit.

Camping and Spawn killing are kinda different.

Camping is waiting at a corner with shotty while crouching, and getting the up on the unfortunate guy who passes by.

Spawn killing is setting up after killing a few of their team mates, and killing them based on where you guess they're going to spawn.

I don't really see Spawn Killing as cheating. Was it intended? No. Inevitable, yes. But just because it wasn't intended doesn't make it cheating. Kinda hard to explain actually, I don't even think I'm getting my own point across here (LOL) but basically it's a more of a technique........strategy, if you will.

Take Warlock for example. The spawns on that map (in reference to its small size) means it's easy to know where your opponent will spawn, especially if you have the high ground.

Both of these (camping and spawn killing) are done at higher levels, it's just a different way the game is played. Running around the map works when the people you're facing aren't set up, but against a team that is setting up and knowing what they're doing, spawn killing and camping are pretty much cruticial.

Unfortunately, it makes for generally slower paced games. Like Lockout slayer which can get really BORING if both teams are just sitting back LOL

There are a few instances where spawn killing may not be avoidable. Consider CTF on Sanctuary. Team SWAT CTF where you are clearing the opposing teams flag point for your teamamtes. If the other team continues to spawn there (like we did for like four spawns in a row EACH last night, confounded Bungie) I can't see anyone turning down the opportunity. For something like that I can forgive "spawn camping". But, in standard Slayer matches I think it's more sporting to at least allow the other team a chance to move.

Greatest of all time

Allow me to give a quote from the glorious RvB.

"ITS A LEGITIMATE STRATEGY."

Everyone is a camper or has camped before in this game.

Campers are easy to kill in Halo... It's not like RB6 where you have one life.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

I like camping, you know I just grab some Pizza and pop and my Shotgun and sword, set up a tent and kill anyone who walks by me, lol.
