If I had the answer, I wouldn't be asking, would I?? Hmmm...?

i recently upgraded my modem. And when i say upgraded, i mean my old modem died and i bought another one. only time will tell, but i think my new modem will give me better/more consistent signal than my old one.

so, my question is about hosting... during the last update, bungie reset host preferences i.e., if you were logged to have a consistently good connection, then you were more apt to get host. i'm sure i am not on the "best host" list, but will bungie start to recognize my better signal from here on out?

this is a pretty specific question, so any in-house bungie fellas would be of great help to me.

My logic is undeniable.

The system almost purely goe on connection reliability, so if you never drop out and have good packet retention, you'll fair well.

host is really a joke wich can decide games, bungie should have made dedicated servers from the beggining therfore not making 1 team superior to another

I went about a month without host in the spring. That was corny. Now I can occasionally standby again! Woo!!

Are you 100% dumb???
You just admitted to standbying in a forum moderated by bungie employees who are on a constant journey to take over the world and rid it of people who cheat in games.

i suppose what i didn't know before the update is that bungie tracks connection reliabilty, and apparently rates your connection. that rating must help decide who is host on a game-by-game basis. i'm just concerned that i've been rated as a crappy host, so i would like to know if my host rank will start to increase.

i may be totally off-base with this idea, but it's what i gathered from their press surrounding the last update.

Do you have any idea how much money that would cost?

Over at HFCS we're constantly hard...

Wait...
What?

From what I've observed, your ability to get host is based off of connection speed, location, and reliability, and all this information is stored on your local cache and the servers. So since you just bought a new, pausibly better modem, it may take a while for the system to recognize you as a potential host. Just keep playing, your time will come.

RIP Halo 2.

But most of the time it's random and you wind up with a terrible host.
