Ban them for 1 day:  3%

I would probably Ban them for 1 month or more because they need to play normally and not let them use a different gamertag to play.

Too easy. Bungie should make available the info on cheaters. A class action suit should be filed on behalf of Bungie and all the non-cheats. All the cheaters should be nailed for $5000 or so for their actions which diminished the enjoyment of the game and for what essentially constitutes fraud.

Cheating would end overnight.

I'd Rather Be A Smartass Than A Dumbass

It depends what they were doing sir.

I think less of some cheats then I do of others.

I mean if they were modding, over using button glitches, and over using super jumping.

Over using? So in real life if I shoot you once for no reason it is OK, but if I do a mag dump into you for no reason that is bad? Buy a moral compass.

I would look up the info on them and never let them back on XBOX live ever again or they use a different Xbox to get rid of the modding and they would not cheat.

Permanent IP ban. Neither they nor any other Xbox in their house could connect to Xbox Live on any game.

At least you're honest. lol, nobody can stop modders/hackers.
I'd still prefer if you didn't do it though.

judging bby your stats... i really dont think its possible to mod, usually when you mod, your team wins? Just a thought.

i kinda like the idea that was stated above, cancel their IP adress so that they cant hook an xbox up to their home... I dont think modders would take to moving so they could mod, but who knows...who knows..

Morder

I would think that someone who is intelligent enough to do their own mods would also be intelligent enough to have better grammar and spelling. Of course if your just using someone elses mods then it makes more sense. Not smart enough to do it yourself so you sponge off of others. Falls in line with the mentality of someone who think that cheating in a game makes them more skilled.

Cheating to make progress or to improve a ranking in a fictional competition doesn't make you more skilled, just more lacking in integrity and ethical fiber.

RIP Halo 2.

Permanent IP ban. Neither they nor any other Xbox in their house could connect to Xbox Live on any game.

IP bans are hideously ineffective. Most ISPs do not give you a static IP. This means that you can get a new IP just by power cycling your modem. For me, my IP refreshes every month or so and is assigned based on the MAC address of the first device connected to my router. This is through one of the most common ISPs available, Comcast. This leaves me with 5 ways to evade an IP ban:
1. Wait a month or so.
2. Connect my Xbox directly to the modem.
3. Get a different router.
4. Spoof the MAC address of my router.
5. Call Comcast and ask for a new IP address.

Worse yet is that ISPs are known to recycle IPs. So my old banned IP could get assigned to a new customer or another current customer when IPs are refreshed, effectively leaving that person banned from Halo 2. The proper solution would be to EEPROM ban the Xbox. This is significantly harder to bypass given the marriage of the EEPROM and the hddkey. However, Microsoft is the only group with the power to do this and apparently has chosen not to allow Bungie to have this kind of power.

You have no proof and are a terrible liar.

Not true at all. Modding maps is extremely easy. I taught my brother how to mod Halo PC's campaign when he was 10 years old. Anyone capable of that is capable of modding on Halo 2. Thank God they detect it so darn quickly now.

LEAD WITH CONVICTION

There should be a disclaimer when you get an xbox live account that says if you cheat on xbox live that your account will be permanently disabled with no refund. I'm sure that would get too expensive for all those -blam!- -blam!- -blam!- cheaters out there. I hate all you -blam!- cheaters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

L M F A O. You aren't serious right? You obviously know little to nothing about Federal and state laws.

Any who, I voted for a 1 week ban. I like the 3 strikes and you are out permanent ban the best however.

3 strikes and your ?!!! Are you kidding me?!!! Cheating is cheating...period. So what you're saying is it's ok to get caught 2 times....meaning it's ok to cheat. That would'nt solve anything. What the hell would a one week ban do....keep people from cheating for week. Yeah, that sounds like a prolem solved. Think about what your saying before you post it because you obviously no nothing about....well...comon sense.

Sense you seem to be so damn smart and are "obviously" a lawyer. What do you know about federal and state laws? Tell me why the class action suit isn't feasable. Because I agree with the guy who posted that. So tell me Jonny Cochran...what do you know without looking up a bunch of crap on the internet and sounding like you know what the hell you're talking about.

Guess what? I am thinking about putting your gamertag in and placing you as a cheater. If enough people here are willing, then you will not see matchmaking again. I understand non-ranked, but "ranked?" Sad, my enemy, sad.

One week ban for first time, because it may someone playing who does not really own the Xbox or account. After that, make it a mounth, then permanent.

Who here thinks they should make a uber powerful Grunt Plasma Rifle thats shoots out naked flaming Chuck Norrises?

Ban them forever if they cheat in MM, but if they only mod in customs then i wouldn't do anything.

  • 07.25.2007 6:35 PM PDT

Err .. bungie is the one who hands out the information on modding. And as for superjumping and button glitching, I just had to get used to them.

Oh, the guy who said sue them, LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL. 'Nuff said.

If I knew them in person?

I'd do two things.

1 - Punch them in the face. Hard.

2 - Smash the hell out of their Xbox.

  • 07.25.2007 7:16 PM PDT

Permanent ban. The game has been out for so long now that everyone should know what is cheating and what isin't. Therefore everyone that cheats knows they are doing it. This is my opinion for matchmaking, I don't really care what people do in MLG tournaments, customs, or off-line, just keep it out of matchmaking and play like you should.
