Sometimes it looks like they are hitting him, but they really aren't.

Connection. If your connection fluctuates you'll have some major BR problems.

That, or you just need to rekindle your skills. Concentrate on where your target is, maybe you'll realize why your missing.

It's either latency in your connection or lost packets. If it's latency, your opponent isn't in the same spot on your map as he is on his map (assuming he's on the host team). So, you're probably both evading each other's fire back and forth, except your rounds are flying into empty space where he was just a moment earlier, and his are hitting you smack in the head in real time.

If the problem is lost packets, you're losing critical kill information through your upload, that's not making it to the host machine.

Both of these issues happen to me, and I know how frustrating they are! My broadband network has solved the lost packets problem, but I still have some latency.

If you were dropping packets then you would drop out of the games as a disconnect.

Yeah, dont worry, i have the exact same same problem, but i have the WORST -blam connection, well, i wouldnt be surprised if it was the worst in canada lol, so bad that when i shoot a rocket, it takes literally a second for it to shoot. So dont worry, your not the only one with this problem, it happens to me all the time when i face people with perfect connections

Not true. I still leave my old XBox hooked up because it allows me to test line quality. There were times in the past when the packet loss I got was 18/24, although usually it was around 20/24. I never got dropped out of a game. Now it tests a perfect 20/20, although I still have latency issues that cause me to lose like the OP mentioned in this thread.

One of the many reasons why we need the beep noise from Halo CE in Halo 2.

He could be double shooting as well... a lot of Newbs do it because they can't play normal and win.

Yellow Bar connection? That used to happen to me when I was at school. I coul never get a decent connection and I thought that I had suddenly turned into the worst halo player over night. If you use wireless connection, try moving your box closer to the router.

keep thinking that, and when halo 3 comes out, and you can't get past the same level you are in halo 2 maybe then you'll wake up.

S.O.SLicks I hate to tell you, but a lot of players lacking in skill use the double shot to glitch. I have no problem gaining levels when I play.

I've noticed the same thing but I'm pretty sure it has to do with two things. One, my BR skills are LACKING as far as initial targeting go. Two, I live in an area with below average server speeds for Cable access and rarely get host.

Host is not the biggest issue but with just a fraction of a second lead on your opponent, it can be a nice advantage.

I used to aim for the face, now I aim for the visor. Big improvement.
