Allthough, I am merely 15 years of age, I am almost fed up with Democracy...
We were having a disscussion in my English class about -blam!- marriage, and concemating(im not sure on the spelling of this) came up as a reason for it not to happen but that it is a religous thing, so I brought up the Seperation of Chruch and State and my teacher told me that it does not really exist anymore and reflecting on that it seems evidedant that it does not, everyday when I look at things, Religion is influencing more and more of our lives. Stem Cell research is a big one, they say that abortated babies arent given a chance to live in gods eyes, but what if that child could not be brought up correctly? would it not serve well for science? I also, specifically remember Benjamin Franklin(or Thomas Jefferson, I forget which) writing that "This nation, by no means, its a Christian nation nor any other Religion," and yet in most decission made by this country known as America are of a Religous sway.
I am at near odds end thinking about how Jesus taught to "Love thine enemy" but we are doing the oposite; going to war for a supision that another nation has Weapons of Mass Destruction but we were wrong and, well look at that we got some oil out of it; Hell we invaded one of the only contries WITHOUT WMDs in the Middle East.
Another thing that has been bothering me is the fact that our current system of electing a president seems encredably corrupt, of one state, almost 1/2 of the population has no say in what happens, Why vote if theres a chance your ideas will not be carried on to higher powers? When we learned about the Electoral College it sounded practical, trying to make it so that one larger state could not out vote a smaller one... but it still does anyway, even worse is that 49% and below of the state has basicaly no say in how something will happen. For my History class we were learning about the Enlightenment Thinkiners, Jean Jaques Ressaue idea of an Ideal government seemed the best, seeing as how everyone has a sway in things and no one was left out in a Direct Democracy... I started thinking, and what we really should do is, instead of having X state with Y votes for Z population, for every so meny people in a state they should get 1 Represenative, and then each side is represented equily and not just 55 votes to one canadate for winning california by 1%.
I needed to get this out of me... its been eating away at me and today pushed me even farther about the Seperation of Chruch and State; as someone put it in a WoW forum "Flame Away."
