Oh no! The community has gone emo! It must have been hanging out with Yoozel!

Now that it's this time of the month again, it seems to be a tradition for all of us to go and post in these threads, acting all zeriuzly.
I don't have much to add, most arguments have been stated already. Still, it's hip to vent and rant, so here I go:

-blam!- happens. The Halo 3 forum are a mess, I do what I can to keep it clean, but can't always take care of everything. Sometimes I'm a bit more lean back in the other forums for compensation. Some of you seem to complain just for the sake of complaining. Sometimes I want all of you to shut up. Sometimes I want Achronos to pull the plug out of the forum. When I ban you, it's not original to send me a pm calling me a ghey Nazzi fascist dictator that sucks male productive organs, that still lives in his his parent's house basement and has no authority in real life and therefor takes it out on you, and because of that, you will find me and kill me because you are tougher and more homicidal than me.

Now that I'm done ranting: poopie (I always wanted to type that in my post just for the sake of it).

There, everybody happy again?

Except that we both became mods at the same time, so what you say is impossible. Stop giving yourself so much credit.

-TGP-

Oh, don't worry TGP - last time toast was on IRC, he claimed that the entire current batch of mods (evilcam et al) only gained their powers due to his personal recommendation. Its best to just ignore any claims he makes - they're worse than some of those made by Rip Saw :S.

And to those who don't know: It's best to just ignore toast. He was once a moderator, but turned bitter and tried trolling with his powers. His powers were then removed, and he went all emo, and did a big "OMFG I'M LEAVING THE COMMUNITY" post, complete with power ranger pictures. Now, realising no one cares about him, he swings by IRC/b.net every other month to stir up attention for himself, by doing exactly what he's done here - making imbecilic, inflammatory posts and quite blatantly taking part in the communities he claimed he never wanted to visit again.

He quite firmly fits into category 2, but he gives the rest of the members in there a bad name.

You're either here, or you're not, toast. Make up your mind, or better, just GTFO.

Trying something once will increace your chances of success, because you tried it. Try someting twice, and your chances increase yet again - seeing as you've done it. Try something a few thousand times, and your chances of success is exponentially increased; this increase would likely provide success every time

People, stop it. I do admit, I brought up this conversation with worry, and I do see now that I, myself, was blinded. Stop the arguments, especially the small pointless ones taking place. Jim, since your on, would you kindly lock this? This thread was a mistake to make, let alone a mistake to think such a thing. Not to mention, there are little debates happening here and there within these four pages, and all are pointless. As for toast, I don't really agree with you. The community lives on because of the helpers and influences involved, not because of money and power.

Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

Think on happy thoughts think on happy thoughts.

If you're going to make this thing personal, there is then no point in keeping this thread going. In regards to the original subject, yes there are some who may be elitist but i honestly do not believe it is a big a deal as many make it out to be. This has all been discussed time and time again and you know what? Did we ever stop to think that maybe we should just get on with enjoying what this site and forums provide?

I think everyone who has sensibly contributed here should be proud that this shows a clear care for the community and what happens to it. Share and enjoy.

Why? What purpose would it serve other than to restrict conversation here in punishment for the activities of the Halo 3 forum.

You cannot dictate such control. If you did, you cause a collapse of the community - the very thing you're supposedly trying to protect.

I have, indeed, seen the Halo 3 Forum. And I do understand that the Septagon does, and should, have far more trust then the Halo 3 Forum due to the differences. Yet, I still don't believe the rules should be so stretched. I do admit, the Septagon is very laid back, and it is a great place to hang out. It just seems like things could be stricter here and there. Not everywhere of course, but just a small bit.
Why don't we just have less rules. 4chan was very successful in that way and in certain forums can have very interesting conversations.

This is a terrible idea.

Please explain exactly which rules you hope to abolish that would result in more interesting conversations, and then explain why private groups do not suffice.

You know? I agree with the Forum ninjas and overlords. The Halo 3 forums are a mess! There's so much spam, RickRoll, reposts of Threads and repeated information that it's sickening, not to mention that the average age of the Halo 3 Forum poster seems to be equal to that of a twelve year old. It's horribly annoying, to me and whatever few other mature members are there on that forum. It's been a veritable hell in there, and I hope that the Forum ninjas keep up their assault on this stupidity!

The forums are probably not worse than they used to be but for each thread im going through violations accumulate in my head and yes there are some things, well people, that are starting to annoy me. As usuall theres no point complaining about stuff here roki since achronos is still not off his high horse and is still acting defensive whenever someone is pointing out flaws on this site, even if theyre not directed towards him personally. Thats the main reason to why im rarely visiting this forum anymore, achronos or some mod are instantly turning the OP into some cry-baby and the the suck-up´s are allowed to turn it into an official flame fest. You dont believe me, use the search feauture....i dare you.

Baine mentioned rick rolling, let me tell you. Thats not half as annoying as starting to read what could have been a good thread just to discover that some of the regulars took it off-topic before it had hit ten posts. I dont even have to mention their names because everyone knows who they are and they are getting way too much space ungranted. If it was up to me i would have just introduced a zero tolerance policy, they wouldnt have lasted a day. Im usually sticking to the rules, im posting frequently but i dont think ive ever posted just to flame and im trying to stay on-topic. Well, you dont get famous around these parts by doing that. The famous members here are those that are emo, homo-blam!- or has some other thing going on that differs them from the majority, it has nothing to do with contributing to the forums. The mods will recognize them after a while and when theyve seen them enough theyre regulars and are getting more space. Let me just add that it has to do with how other members are treating them too but for some reason its popular to be different here and that adds to the status....oh yeah...even if you´re not a girl act like one....its the easiest way to glory.

Unfortunately, Toast, the opinion that the site is dying isn't held by most the people here. ;)

If it helps, the deadline to befriend me passed some time ago, I've blacklisted half my MSN contact list. The community has always been this bad (since I joined) in terms of idiocy ratio's but there are just more people now.

Also, elitism makes the World spin, there's a reason we have a power tree; gives us something to strive for. I'm not being political but the reason communism doesn't tend to work is because it contradicts the natural human tendency to ascend in society and life.

There was once a time when everyone was nice. When Stosh and Yoozel first got their ninjaness, the forums were brand new, those were fun. Now....yeah....eww.

But you can't say you don't expect it. Halo 3, the last of the trilogy, is a month away. People want to know how it's going to end, and in that group of "people" you get the morons who want to make it harder for people to find the information they want, or better yet spread false rumors, false hope, etc. Hang on for the ride. My question is what it'll look like a few months after H3.

It's not fair to think of the Septagon in the same way that one thinks of the Halo 3 forum.

The Septagon has very little spam and well behaved regular users, for the most apart. It can actually have intelligent discussions about actual things without going completely off topic in just a few posts.

The halo 3 forums is the opposite of the septagon. It is the spam filled garbage dump of Bungie.net. nearly every thread has flaming in it, goes completely off topic in the first few posts, and is just overall filled with spam.

It's not promoting elitism, it's giving rewards for doing well. it's like working, if you do well and work hard you get a raise, but if you fool around and do nothing you can lose your job.

If the Halo 3 forum regulars were to come to the septagon and see that it gets rewards, such as those in the quote in the first post, they may say "why don't we get that" and then figure out why and try to improve so that they can get it.

It isn't about certain members having more privileges than others and it isn't about who's new or who's old either. If you type like a 10-year-old-kid or you spam the forums you're definitely getting a banishment.

Just like Achronos said: "...there really isn't a problem other than your perception of what's going on."

SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!

As most everyone is in agreement now regarding the issue that Rockit initially brought up, I don't think this thread is good for any new or real discussion anymore. All we can do now is reaffirm our previously stated assertions, which we have more or less been doing for 2 pages now.

I'm locking this topic, as most everyone agrees that it’s simply not a substantive issue anymore.
