For some reason when I start up Halo 2 for Vista I can't connect to LIVE. It signs me into my gamertag but not LIVE. Any way I can fix this?

Were you able to download and install the live update as well as your gamer profile?

I downloaded my gamer profile from Shadowrun since that game works. Sometimes on H2V it takes me to get the update but gets very close to finishing and never does finish downloading the update. It then says Update Failed.

Goto http://microsoft.com/games/halo2 and click the support button and get the update from there.

Yeah, you won't be able to connect to live until the update is installed. Click on the link that Wakeboy provided and download and install it manually. After that restart the game and you should be able to connect and download your profile.

Well I just downloaded the latest patch and it connects to LIVE for a little bit, and then disconnects itself and I have to go back to the desktop and re-connect to my wireless router. Wtf!?

Any help here? I just want to play this damn game while connected to LIVE so I can chat with my friends, play multiplayer, and feel "online" instead of the leftout feeling I get when not online.

What a great community, thanks for the continued support! /sarcasm

Anyways, I do thank the 2 people have actually posted helpful info even though it doesnt have much depth. I really want things to be working normal and have been waiting over a week patiently for people to answer (I posted this on the official Halo 2 for Vista forum) so this issue can be resolved but still no follow ups to help. Sad...

PS: I hate to have to double post/triple post, but it is all I can do.

Wow, this is a forum, not an instant message chatroom. We have no patience for your impatience--so don't bump your thread up again.

Yes, this is one of the slowest going forums here on Bungie.net. You call waiting over a week for simple answers, impatience? Wow.

Ex Deeh.

My friend has alot of issues with a wireless router, it does DC him from live every now and then (only on Vista, not 36).

I think perhaps you should ring up some companies (ISP, XBOX, etc) and see if they can help.

It's definitely not my router. It is brand new, Windows Vista compatible, has support for both G and N technology. Works with every other latop, desktop, console in the house. Plus, Shadowrun works fine on my PC, it's just H2V with the issues.

Chilll

This game has a very small community still :(

So, when you try to connect to live in hv2 it disconnects you from the wireless?

Check windows update for any driver updates for your wireless card and any update for for windows for anything or reason.

Then come back and let us know if anything happened or no differnece.

I'm trying. ;)

You didn't need to triple-post, though, and those were all submitted in the same day.

All I'm saying is, respect us and we'll respect you. Although we're more than happy to help (most of us, anyway), we're not obligated to give you tech support.

Well, you sure know no manners both for forum posting nor basic. I mean, first of all, three posts are not an excuse. As said before, we are not compelled nor forced to give you tech help. Double posting is discouraged on all forums, if you did not know that before, anyways on that. Plus, we still have a small community. Not our problem most of the people who play Halo are too damn lazy to not try and get or build his or her own PC.

Terribly sorry that these social forums aren't quick enough to give you the tech support you require. Perhaps you'd prefer to use the actual support page for H2V instead, which is automated and can give you an instant response.

Well I installed the latest update manually and now it connects me to LIVE, but only temporarily. It disconnects me say 2-3 minutes after it auto-signs me into LIVE. Also, the comp that I am using it on is brand new and the drivers were already pre-installed so... yeah. =/

Thanks for the nice reply though Wakeboy1337.

Hours apart. Anyways sorry, I am just used to fast moving forums. But seriously I bought H2V for online play, and if you just got a brand new game, wouldn't you want to play the damn thing? I havn't been able to do so yet and it is irritating.

I tried that before and no dice. Also, I did not mean to "throw insults" at people, I was just expressing disappointment. Anyways, I might just take this game back. It's not working for me, seems like a lot of other people are having a lot of issues with it as well. Plus I already bought this game for Xbox when it came out and Halo 3 (already pre-ordered the Legendary Edition in May) comes out in about a month so I will be playing that and Crysis if it comes out in September which I doubt it will.

Oh well, maybe I will re-buy this game if the issues get sorted out. Have fun everyone!

New drivers for things are always coming out.

Whats the make and model of your computer and I will look for you. Also Rebuying the game most likely isnt going to help.

Try Downloading the live engine update

You can rule out your wireless connection (which is probably what the problem is at this point) by temporarily plugging in an ethernet cable from your pc to the router. Log into live and see if it disconnects you or not. If it DOES then you know the problem isn't your wireless connection. If it doesn't then you found your answer.
