I just want to ask a question and do not want to start a flame war or anything. This thread will probably get locked anyway, but here goes.
Why is Bungie so sensitive about the use of the "N" word?
I've only been active in these forums for a few months, so there must be some history here. Were people getting that upset at having their gaming experience called into question? Why? People need to relax a little. Either admit that you're not as good as the guy calling you out (and you need to go practice and get better) or go whip his butt (in the game only, of course). Either way, there's no need to get your feelings hurt. Feel free to look at my rankings. They suck. I'm just new at playing this game live, but I've beat the campaign forwards and backwards on Legendary. I've also been playing video games since the Atari 2600. You may have to look in the Smithsonian to find out what that is, but I'm no "N" to video games either.
Like I said, I'm just asking a question. Please don't turn this into a flame war. I'd just like an intelligent discussion and maybe make some of those easily offended out there realize that there's no need to get their feelings hurt. Maybe some of the trash talkers will tone it down a bit, too.
I read your second statement, "Why is Bungie so sensitive about the use of the "N" word?" and thought you were talking about the actual racist term. I was going to mention that in almost every online game I've played(MMO's) using that word can get you an automatic ban. I hear it used all of the time in Halo 2 and the only thing I can do about it is leave feedback, which probably won't do anything. However, you weren't talking about this, so I'll end this rant and start on your topic, lol.
Personally I look at the word as geek/"l33t' speak, basically just something that little kids use. I'm pretty sure it was originally used to describe someone who is new to the game. Now its only use is to demean people, and attempt to hurt feelings in order to make the user of the word feel better about themselves. I put it in the same category as the use of the word '-blam!-', being used completely inapproprietly, often by people who probably don't even know what the word really means. Seriously how immature are you if you use these words, or even do things like kneeling on people(you know what I'm describing.)
