Lol Dude MR lucky i know how u feel the main thing that make it scary is that music and the sound of the flood and also you are the only one there!! I can never play that level a night!! And when the marine starts shooting at u and acting crazy that is just scary!!

The particular track for that music is called, "Devils...Monsters..."
And it fits just perfectly with the flood.

I just got done playin that level. The flood are way more scarier when they dont have weapons. They have to get in your face and smack you. And I like listening to that terrified marine ramble on.

It sounds best when they hit you if you have surround sound and a nice system with some bass to it. Let me tell you, that's a kick ass feeling.

When I first got on 343, the radio transmission kind of set the eriee mood for me. Then I saw the two ally dots on my HUD and I ran to meet them and all of a sudden they were gone. I thought "what the hell"?

THen when I went down and saw all of the dead elites and dead marines I pretty much said to myself: I have a new enemy.. not good. The crazy marine kept saying things like, "Play dead, thats what I did, played dead. They only take the live ones. OH GOD I CAN STILL HEAR THEM!" I put a bullet in his head and ended the suffering.

When I saw the cinematic I was officially freaked out... I walked in the door and all the blood just gave my an uneasy feeling. Then I heard the door explode and I gave the little Flood some bullets.

343 by far my favorite level. Bravo to Bungie!

I was playing that today on legendary. When I first playedd Halo the first level I ever played was The Library. But 343 is way more challenging than that, I feel. I'm used to flood by now but I still jump when I'm running and reloading and I happen to accidently bump into a combat form who is just waiting there silently. Or when you are in the small, square rooms and you can hear the floor above or below you, making you think they are in the same room. That still creeps me out.

On 343GS, the crashed pelican and the repeating message made me uneasy. The friendly blips on the motion tracker just vanishing made me curious. Wandering around in the facility alone with all those strange, quiet noises made me very uneasy. Seeing the Covenant bodies piled up in a corridor with blood covering the walls was disturbing. When I walked past a certain point in a corridor and I heard a loud breathing sound seemingly behind me, I was freaking out.

Then I got to the marine with the pistol. I listened to him talk for a while; when I heard him mention monsters, that pretty much confirmed my fears. When I got to the door and watched the recording, I was scared. I jumped up onto one of the platforms, and when the door on the other side of the room was knocked down, I was adrenaline-pumped and ready to kill some Flood.

I eventually worked my way back to the elevator, which promptly crashed and blew up, leaving me with that "Trapped underground with hordes of disgusting zombies with not a lot of ammunition left and no definite way out" feeling.

When I found another elevator, it went down instead of up, and I got to see walls covered in blood on the way down. After some quick running and shooting and more running, I finally found another elevator that brought me up to the surface. Man, was I relieved to see those marines! That relief didn't last long, however, and I ended up meeting Guilty Spark.

That pretty much sums up my initial experience of 343GS.

I think quite easily. its the theory of "The calm before the storm" on this level that creeps most people out(including me). The silence and unusual behaviour of everything around you makes people uneasy. That includes:
* The looped radio transmission.
* Allies showing up and then vanishing on the map.
* The Covenant being so s**t scared of some AR fire. Very unusual.
* The blood of covenant wiped on the walls.
* Covenant defense posts abandoned.
* Stuff on fire and destroyed.
* The weird noises that seem to come from behind you.
* The freaked out Marine that begins to fire at you (the stuff he says too).
* All of the video clip you find in the helmet.

Its like being a character in a horror movie, the type where you are in the middle of nowhere, don't know where you are going and creepy s**t is happening around you.

I think this level is put together really well. Its a short level that isn't that good gameplay wise, but the sheer creepieness of the entire level really pulls it into its own league.

To be honest I think the guys that created the level went for psychological uneasieness over the actual gameplay of the level.

Also, it is the first level where you do not have Marines and/or Cortana with you at least most of the way through. True, you do get a few Marines at the end, but it is increasingly frightening when you realize that they never even had a prayer. Impossible to get them to the E419.

I also agree with the guy who said, "On Legendary, I play that level like it was me in that armor!

Yesterday, I was playing it on Legendary. I died twice: once at the very beginning out of sheer lazyness, and then later on against the Flood. I was so freaking careful to not die, cause I was so scared!

- Yolego, who finds that level enjoyable in it's own special way
