Situation

Multi Flag Coagulation. After taking out a few people on the ground near the rockets spawn with your banshee and losing your shields in the process an enemy banshee begins strafing and firing at you from an uncomfortably close range. Choose a reaction.

1. Charge it...
By charging under the attacking banshee you'll effectively ruin its shot forcing it to turn around possibly giving you time to recharge your shields. Although you'd be charging straight at the enemy base taking the risk that some jerk fresh off the spawn (possibly out for revenge after your banshee shenanigans) will shoot you down with an SMG.

2. Retreat..
Run fo it! Boost as fast as possible to you're base and ask for team support. Theres some risk here the enemy banshee is very close to you and if it's got a good pilot you'll likely be shot down before you can turn towards you're base.

3. Strafe/Return fire...
Again this depends on the enemies pilot skill. If it can aim decently it'll adjust to your new direction/speed and hit a few bolts quickly taking you out. Although a few of your shots may hit their mark you wont cause any worthwhile damage to the enemy banshee. #'s 2 and 3 have the same dependent. The enemies skill both of these options could pay off hugely in your favor.

4. Abandon your banshee...
The needler rocks are nearby providing excellent cover from both the banshee fire and any annoying snipers that may be supporting the banshee. Hitting a person on the ground is much more difficult than hitting a vehicle it's very likely that even a good banshee pilot will miss giving you time to make it to cover. You can then scare it off with Sub Machine Gun fire (which is the only weapon besides grenades you have).

All of these actions have a chance of success but which one are you more likely to take. Personally I'd charge em' it's likely I wouldn't make it but that damn banshee wouldn't get the kill.

I'd bail out. By that point, the Banshee would essentially be dead weight, and the other three options present a big risk of being shot down while performing them.

There are a lot of ''it depends factors'' to this question. What I find works best for me is to get out of the banshee, but rather than run far away, get just far enough to make the pilot of the other banshee lose interest in me and destroy my banshee. Most of the time they get so concerned with blowing up the banshee that they don't pay attention to their radar allowing you to get close enough for a board, turning the tables. It's nice when this works out but stinks when it doesn't. It all depends on how much risk you want to take.

Bail out and grap the rocks, blow his banshee from the sky. You did say you are right there.
