I have always wished that halo one would have xbox live support.......It DOESNT!!! The other day I heard of this new thing called xbox connect. I researched it and tryed to find out what it was. Can anyone tell me what it really does, and what I need to use it. If you know how to use this proggram, is it mandatory to close all firewalls and open certain ports to play??

Here's the synopsis. Upon looking it up basically all it is, is a rerouting protocal that complies with Xbox standards. It allows players to use a "Gamespy like" browser to find games through the use of their computer and Xbox by basically routing packets through both.

All in all, it allows you to use a lanning type atmosphere with an Xbox livish capabilities.

Wholly inefficient :-p

heres a link for you.

I tried it at my cousins....its not worth it i think. The most you usually do is about 4 players and all the players are VERY picky about the gametypes.

I think you're talking about what was called a tunnel. What I heard about a while back let some Xboxes communicate with each other by routing thier data between each other without modifications to it, so that they "think" they're connected directly with cables. The data to and from the Xboxes was bundled with data telling all the non-Xbox machines involved what to do with the incomprehensible "boxspeak", with the last of the routing stuff stripped away as your PC feeds it to your Xbox. I imagine that lag was a big issue since whatever the games needed to share was sent over the internet with routing data and processed through multiple other machines, especially since most games' authors probably expected the data to be sent by itself between only two machines and through nothing but your link cable! It's still being used, though, so it can't be too bad...
