Subject: Who thinks the sword is a noob weapon?

Well i do. Its really annoying when im about to kill some one and some sword guy pops put of no where and kills me. Its such a noob weapon. All you do it wait till the reticule is red and the you get a kill. It reqires no skill and there is no way to counter it unless you good at bxr. Agree? Dissagre?

I found this an interesting item to vote on as you indicated the sword was a "gun". The very name of the weapon contradicts your label.

The sword is a valid weapon. I am tired of so many people labeling weapons as N**B just because they don't like them, yet will freely use and exploit them if it suits their own purpose. The sword does require a bit of skill to be very effective. Otherwise you generally end up with one or two kills and then lose the sword to someone else.

You do not have to use any glitches or other cheats to beat a sword carrier. Just positioning yourself with enough distance and getting headshots you can overcome a sword carrier. Even jumping backwards can beat a sword carrier. It is just like other weapons that are suitable for a single type of combat. People get ticked off when it is used against them. Yet this doesn't make them any less valid. A balancer to the swords power would have been to maintain the energy usage as it is in the campaign.

I don't disagree that it sucks to die by the sword in the middle of another fight but sometimes you are just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Honestly I don't care lol, If you suck to the point where you have to use bugs in the game to win, well, you suck lol

I share the same view, but c'mon! odds are you will not win a close rang fight unless you do a variety of Button glitches. I have, but 90% of ppl out there, won't.

If you share the same point then you should just say "tough -blam!-" to them. And plus if they would stop doing glitches and actually build up some skill they wouldn't need to win close range fights with glitches. I don't need to. Heck, I can't even do the button glitches on purpose.

most ppl that can bxr and double/quad shot well and consistently usually have a good understanding of the game and have good tactics, skill, aiming and teamwork. whenever i play against someone who refuses to use bxr and rrx i beat them 95 % of the time in straight up br battles. bottom line, ive never played anyone good who says bxr and rrx is cheating.

What I want to know is if you use bxr and rrx against people who don't use it. If you don't then I agree that they may not be good with the Battle Rifle or just not good at all. But from my experience with bxr-ers and rrx-ers is that they only bxr as a tactic, only have skill in pressing the buttons precisely (and not getting killed when they do it), have good aiming (because they have to hit the person), and don't use teamwork. Heck I've seen one guy alone take on 6 people and bxr them all to death by himself; it doesn't really seem like teamwork is needed. But their understanding of the game can vary because it doesn't matter too much.

chill out i just typed the wrong word no need to call me an idiot. I know its not hard to counter its just when you spawn with an smg there is really nothing you can do, isin it stupid when ppl that use it for ALL there kills. That was a good idea for it to have a charge like in campaign. That would really balance it out

I disagree. The sword just needs to have a battery like in the campaign with a smaller reticule and shorter lunge. The sword requires strategy to lure your opponents to you, force them into a corner, or a 2v1 situation.

A sword noob is a new player who carries a sword as their primary weapon, expecting players to charge them and give them free kills.

A more experienced player with a sword switches to their sword only when in close quarters battle and down atleast 1 or 2 shots. You only use your sword when you are on the losing end of a close-range firefight because of how inconsistent the weapon is. Sometimes it lunges you over their head, or does absolutely no damage.

Also, there will be no BxR In Halo 3.

QFT.

I've seen many a player carry the sword in plain sight. I swear, it's the dumbest thing ANY player can do. EVER.

The sword is a dumb gun, mainly because it's a sword, not a gun, but removing it from matchmaking would not work. What would you replace it with? I'm seeing it getting replaced by 'OMG stop whoring the goddam shotgun!!!'

Once I get the sword in any game, I never die.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

You should be removed from Halo 2 and Halo 3.

I agree 100%! Bungie made the game with a whole range of weapons, and each has it's time and place. People hate the noob combo, but it's effective. Why is that hated so much and not guys who are good with the BR go rampaging through matches using nothing else? I think it demonstrates more skill to use all of the weapons well.

The sword isn't a noob weapon. It really does need a battery on it, but still, there are tons of ways to counter. One is to walk to the side when they lunge at u, they sometimes lunge to the side and then u just wack em in the back of the head, or use another sword or shotgun. 3 ways to counter it right there.

The Halo 3 swprd is garbage so stop complaining about sword. In a few months you will be begging for it back cause thats the type of newb u r.

  • 07.28.2007 6:27 PM PDT

Don't assume anything, because it makes an "ASS-" out of "-U-" and "-ME"

The only 2 things that needs to be done about it is

1. battery life, and more importantly

2. Charging fix. I can never hit anyone with this. I charge at someone, the sword hits them and makes the slice sound but nothing happens to them.

u good? send me an invite love a challenge

I personaly dont believe so. The sword is strong, not denieing that. but it is far from invinceable like other posters suggested a well placed plasma is good against it . for me about 75% of the time I walk into the trap or run at them unknowingly so a mental note is needed and they can be avoided or delt with from a distance.

*picks up the Unnamed skull* alas, poor Keves - I knew him well... *proceeds to bash Sarge with the skull* ~ seriously, bashing sarge after getting the unnamed skull in Halo 2 is so much fun...

In halo one I went through whole series of rooms without ever being seen (play the Thief games, and you'll learn the joy of blackjacking someone ^_^)

HERE IS MY INSIGNIA

yes, its a dumb gun

I didn't know a sword was a gun XD

it does require skill to lure someone in that close, via using an smg or something so they close in, and then whammo....

It takes skill to kill multiple people in a room with it without dying. But yes it is a noob weapon.

The death from above is sweetness (jumping and lunging down onto someone's head... it is just plain cool looking)

They said in a recent update that swords could counter swords in halo 3 somehow.

I've never known anyone to BXR a sword lunge, nor do I think it possible, however you can DODGE it if you follow these simple steps:

1. If they jump, as soon as the lunge starts duck, their feet will hit your head and they will slide off you, or they might bounce over you.

2. if they're on the ground make circles running towards the hand without the sword (strafe right in a circle around them) and occassionally they'll just deflect off of you.

3. Occassionally ducking works on it's own as long as their aiming high like for your head.

Sorry for how I typed this, I just didn't feel like writing a paragraph XD.

keep the sword, it would be a dumb idea not to.....its the only weapon (not gun) that doesnt shoot anything....and if you are wise then you wont come out and show that you have it..you hide it and bring it out only when close enough...or if you dont like to use it...get it and keep it and dont use it....that way no one else can

I thought they were getting rid of button combo's in H3?

I honestly don't have a problem with any weapons in this game(I have problems with button combo's and other exploits though, people who use them against other people in match making are punks), my biggest problem is when people get cocky when using the power weapons(PP, rocket launcher, sword.) I love be told that I suck or having the little kneel in your face thing done to me when I get killed by a sword or PP, lol. I'll be like, Woh you got some skill with that sword there, you totally got me when I was fighting your team mate and couldn't pay attention to you. Or, oh yea you can aim great with that PP, the whole tracking thing makes you a great player : )
