Subject: cool move--- leach manuever

take that

I don't know if anyone has done this before, but the people in our match seemed taken aback. Me and my brother, playing under the name of LoRD D00m, just won a capture the flag match on coagulation by paratrooping. One of us flew the banshee while the other rode on top. He was flying. I jumped off over the enemy base, stole their flag, then got back on after i had the flag. I rode all the way back to our base waving the flag. We took no fire. Everyone acted like they had never seen it before. Let me know if you have.

This "maneuver" would never work in a serious game, or a game with people who know how to shoot up in the air.

Riding the banshee is nothing new, and extremely nooby, im surprised the people you were playing against were to nooby to simply snipe you out of the air, smg or rocket the banshee while it was flying for 45 seconds waiting to pick you up, or you falling off.

Definatly less effective then simply going through the teleporter, and running to the base...

Well, considering that the Banshee cannot boost, or even turn sharply lest the flag carrier fall off, I'd say it is pointless, and I'm sure, against people who have played the game for more than 5 minutes, you would have gotten owned.

But yes, I have seen this before, and it is essentially, the easiest double kill ever with a rocket.

If the people acted like they never saw it before then they seriously have played halo for about 30 seconds.

Well if you got more than halfway on coagulation then both people turn sideways and the person in the basnshee does a sideways loop. It might launch the flag carrier toward their base.

I wish to ask a different question sir.

Why did you call it the "leach manuever "?

Wow, you're really badass, what with all your trash talking on the Bungie.net forums. You're obviously not a noob at all, and someone we should all look up to as a true pwner of noobs. The OP of this thread is very sorry that he offended you with his obviously out-of-line post, and the Halo community as a whole expresses their deepest apologies for angering you, the bungie.net king and Halo pro extraordinare, Just Legit.

To the OP - it is a pretty old technique, but since it is pretty easy to defend against, no one does it any more. Therefore, pulling it out here and there as a surprise tactic isn't all that bad of an idea. As everyone but Just Legit seems to know, there is only one rocket launcher on Coagulation, and if the other team doesn't have it, then it is actually a pretty workable tactic. Just be careful, one defender with anything but an smg would probably be enough to defend against it, but if you can really take them by surprise you might find it works from time to time.

  • 07.28.2007 12:34 PM PDT

take that

To answer a few questions, I think I or someone on my team had the rocketlauncher, you can boost while someone rides if you don't suck, it only takes like three seconds to grab the flag because you fall in through the sun-roof, then jump off the ramp and land on the banshee and fly away to saftey. you can then beat people to death with the flag on the way out, or for added insult have the chief wave the flag around on the way back. Also, i like to pretend halo is a form of entertaintment, possibly a game, possibly video in nature. I'm not a doctor, I don't have all the answers. However, it was fun and everyone got a laugh out of it, and we won the game with it. SO no, I'm sure people with more than five or six thousand hours logged would have to known to initiate defenseive manuever omicron eight - t, but for fun, I thought it was pretty cool. Additionally, offline we've piled like four chiefs on one banshee, plenty to attack with if they dont have a rocket launcher. ALso, I called it leach manuever after my brother and my name.

A faster way is to just launch him. Have the flag guy stand against a slanted rock facing the destination, and have the banshee guy have severe handicap on and have him slam against the flag guy.

Never seen that seems pretty cool it isn't nooby. If people think you are nooby when playing a video game that is just pathetic, especially on an online forum. Talking trash on an online forum is pathetic.

Those others are right....it isn't new at all. Banshee Surfing! It's the main reason that assault does not have sudden death anymore. Hell, we even use to do that with the bomb. Bomb guy on banshee, fly him somewhere unreachable and let him stay there long enough...other team eventually quits.
Of course, this was over 2 years ago, though.

If the other team has their wits about them, then it's easy to defend against. Just have a guy with a BR or shotgun stay in or around the base. Sniper watches both bases. It's not hard and it prevents humiliating beatdowns like d00m talked about.

*picks up the Unnamed skull* alas, poor Keves - I knew him well... *proceeds to bash Sarge with the skull* ~ seriously, bashing sarge after getting the unnamed skull in Halo 2 is so much fun...

In halo one I went through whole series of rooms without ever being seen (play the Thief games, and you'll learn the joy of blackjacking someone ^_^)

It can and obviously has worked in a serious game before...

The people were probably not around the base at the time, they weren't necessarily nooby.

And it's more effective than teleporter and running because everyone EXPECTS you to teleport and run, and can therefore plan for it... who PLANS to shoot at a banshee with a flag man ontop of it? They were probably so trained on the teleporter and that gully between bases that they didn't even look up to bother killing the banshee. With the angle they might have been at, they might have not noticed a flag on top at all...

Don't assume anything, because it makes an "ASS-" out of "-U-" and "-ME"

Just Legit, it's a good idea. Don't insult people just because you think it's dumb or because you can't do it. I've been playing online for 3 months and at LAN parties for over 2 years and I have not seen this done. Please don't call people "Noobs" for an idea that is new to them. Just tell them that it is old and what it's flaws are.

Rofl! Dude, I like your style.

And hey, ever manage to steal a guy's banshee whilst dogfighting? One time in Coag I was in a shee, going against another shee, and I was about to die. So, I flew straight down at the guy, hopped out of mine, and boarded his in midair. It was probably the coolest thing I've ever done in Halo, and everyone I was playing with was like "holy crap dude!"

Then I got rocketed/blown up about 3 seconds later. Oh well.

  • 07.28.2007 8:33 PM PDT

Greatest of all time

i saw this once, i rocketed the banshee and the flag guy jumped and the dead banshee launched the guy all the way to his base. My team was pissed.

First: It's banshee surfing, and it's nothing new.

Second: It's not a manuver, a manuver is a single action...

Third: You can't boost, you'll fall off, smart one.
