This "maneuver" would never work in a serious game, or a game with people who know how to shoot up in the air.
Riding the banshee is nothing new, and extremely nooby, im surprised the people you were playing against were to nooby to simply snipe you out of the air, smg or rocket the banshee while it was flying for 45 seconds waiting to pick you up, or you falling off.
Definatly less effective then simply going through the teleporter, and running to the base...
Wow, you're really badass, what with all your trash talking on the Bungie.net forums. You're obviously not a noob at all, and someone we should all look up to as a true pwner of noobs. The OP of this thread is very sorry that he offended you with his obviously out-of-line post, and the Halo community as a whole expresses their deepest apologies for angering you, the bungie.net king and Halo pro extraordinare, Just Legit.
To the OP - it is a pretty old technique, but since it is pretty easy to defend against, no one does it any more. Therefore, pulling it out here and there as a surprise tactic isn't all that bad of an idea. As everyone but Just Legit seems to know, there is only one rocket launcher on Coagulation, and if the other team doesn't have it, then it is actually a pretty workable tactic. Just be careful, one defender with anything but an smg would probably be enough to defend against it, but if you can really take them by surprise you might find it works from time to time.
