Recently, I've heard of groups that have been spammed by accounts that all seem to spam the same way. I think that there is a cult working their way to a mod rank in a chapter and then blacklists everyone and spams and deletes the forum and resource articles. One of the ones I first found was the attack on the gruop Seventh Column Troopers by MabeasSP. The attacker deleted important stickies and some active forum threads. And coincidently, the name is an anagram for Spam EB SA which mean Spam Earths Battlefield and Spartan Alliance. These two groups were at a short "war" which was ended with a treaty but then someone respammed the group and stated that the person was the leader of SA, Tom T117. Then a few weeks later, Seventh Column Troopers was spammed. Either someone wants these groups out of the picture, or they want to make groups not fun for anybody anymore.

Group wars aren't a huge issue. If you're a group leader, you need to take responsibility of keeping people who aren't trust worthy off of higher ranks or into the group. All bad group war things can be avoided if people were smart about their choices.

"Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind." - Albert Einstien

It isn't so easy to tell the trustworthiness of someone from just text. One minute they could be performing ever duty you want them to do, and the next your entire memberlist is banned.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

That's why it is a wise policy to get to know group members through other means. If I only know you from b.net, that's not good enough to become a moderator in any group that I am an admin of.

The ability to personally kick someone's ass for being a jerk makes real idiotic behavior far less likely.

Is it just me, or is the wise advice quality going downhill?

I agree with you Foman. Grups have to get to know their members other than B.net. If its on another website or even a game then that could give you a little inside info.

Good point. If you cannot trust someone and do not know them, it isn't smart to make them a moderator.

I happen to agree. Just try to be smart about who is in your group. When I had my group a while back I didn't rank anyone up for a VERY long time, so it would have been a lot of work for someone to get to a high enough status to ruin the group.

But in the unfortunate circumstance that someone actually goes to all that trouble just to be rude like that it really is upsetting. Just like graffiti on monuments and historical statues, I simply don't understand the motivation behind it.

And the Shadow fell upon the Land, and the World was riven stone from stone. The oceans fled, and the mountains were swallowed up, and the nations were scattered to the eight corners of the World. The moon was blood, and the sun was as ashes. The seas boiled, and the living envied the dead. All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World. And him they named Dragon.

I totally agree Foman. But not many seem to follow this "rule". I was recently promoted "Group Staff" in the Halo 3 Community group, and that just by writing one pm.

I wonder who would want to destroy something like a group and make people not have any fun in the group again?
