I've been really into the whole Japanese sword thing lately. They fascinate me, mainly because they're very powerful and elegant while staying very simplistic at the same time. My question is this: where's a good place on the Internet to find high-quality katanas? I really don't have the money for one right now, but I'm very interested in the prospect. There are lots of sites out there that look great, but I have no idea what kind of quality to expect. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Go to http://www.coldsteel.com/ for really good quality but a greater price. Also try http://www.oriental-weapons.com/ for lower quality but an actually affordable sword. Hope that helps they're extremely expensive like $500 and up for katanas.

Thanks Reclaimer, I'm really liking the Cold Steel Katana. That really helps me get an accurate price range for these swords: expensive.

Are the Cold Steel katanas manufactured in a factory or are they hand made in Japan... because only a sword made by a master smith is worthy of your 1337 n1nj4 sk1llz.

So would you be buying the weapon as a collector's item, or for actual use? :-p

Actual use the caption to the side at cold steel's website states that the katana can easily sever a 7 inch bamboo stalk in one stroke.

wicked!
