PC technology evolves very fast, but that doesn't mean you need to upgrade every three months. It's a good thing.

Also, PCs don't have to be as expensive as you say they are. By the way, can you play World of WarCraft or Age of Empires II on a console? Does the PS3 or the 360 have Crysis coming its way? The PC has its fair share of exclusive titles, too, you know. And so what if they're available on multiple platforms? That just means it would be better to get the PC version. Oblivion is one fine example of this. Then again, Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter isn't. But that's not the PC's fault.

What's to pick apart? You dug yourself a grave and basically laid yourself in it. You failed to mention how it's $400 for a 360 ONLY. You didn't include the cost of controllers, a headset, and a membership to Xbox Live. Your $400 360 doesn't come with free games either. Also, your Half-Life 2 360 copy cannot utilize the hundreds of Source mods out there that play like individual games. Your 360 will last you until the next gen of consoles come out, and, unlike a PC, you end up retiring it instead of putting in a measly $200 or $300 for a video card upgrade. So, again, when the next wave of consoles come out, which, I would think, will be more expensive, they will also come with either one or no controllers, and, again, you will have to go through the same process all over again.

In the long run and investment-wise, consoles are bad choices. They're virtually money pits with dead ends and little to none modification possibilities and are sold on the main point that they're fast and easy to use and play. Also, the console serves only one purpose and can harness only one mindset; gaming. The PC is a long time investment that will last you for as long as your PC can live. It also serves multiple purposes, harnesses high modification possibilities, and you don't have to throw it away when they come out with the new models.

So, in the long run, not only does the PC offer more options then current consoles can offer, but it is also a safer and cheaper investment, so all of these points about how consoles are cheap and what not are moot, especially after what I just said.

360>Vista?
Well, it gets less blue screens :P

And Vista doesnt get The Ring of Death very offten.
They both result from hardware failures usually. So I was just thrown in a pile of dirt :(.

My 360 never had the red ring of death before, except when I forgot to hook up the AV cable when I first got it.

but the point is u get a 400 dollor 360 and a 60 dollor game that is it getting hd video or sound is an extra on the pc and the 360 the whole case any console trys to make is why every few months get a new video card when you get one thing for 3-5 years
This is what you need to get. Let's make the 7900gs as an example as it is as or more powerful than the graphics card running in the XBOX 360.

1) You DO NOT need to upgrade you graphics card every few months just to be able to play the latest games. Simply turning down the quality of the game will make it run perfectly fine on the 7900gs for the latest games. People only buy new graphics cards all the time because they wish to continue playing at the maximum quality the game has to offer.

2) Just like the 7900gs over time, games MUST be lowered in quality for them to be able to play on the XBOX 360 and Oblivion is a perfect example of that. If you look at the quality of Oblivion on the XBOX 360 to a high end PC, the graphics on the XBOX 360 is considerably and noticeably worse.

3)Anyone with a decent PC and a 7900gs will be able to play games at the same or better quality on the PC than the XBOX 360 whether it be from todays games or games in the next 2-3 years. The XBOX 360 doesn't become more powerful over time, it remains the same, as do PC's, so how can you say that the XBOX 360 will last longer without it being upgraded?

4)If you haven't noticed, because PC's are rapidly being upgrade, we are starting to get PC exclusive games such as Crysis. This is because todays mid range/high range computer are capable of playing the game at a medium/high quality. Games ONLY come out onto console when they have a good quality/performance ratio, you simply cannot get that on the XBOX 360 with the upcoming titles, but you can easily get them on the PC. And because games on PC a very customizable, people with a 7900gs can lower the graphics and still enjoy fun game play, cause lets face it, graphics isn't everything on PC, but but it is on console.

some of the points you are makeing are oppisite video cards do not last longer they are always makeing new and more coastly
Wrong, video cards DO last longer, because once they have retired from gaming after the 2-3 year life span, you can continue to use them for other purposes, something you CAN'T do with the console.

Posted by: xxspartan617xx
and to say it coasts 2000 for a 360 how much a comp video card very good screen and speekers coast look that is the big knock on a pc is it costs more that is why i feel a 360 and or ps3 is better plus many pc games are also on ps3/360
Wrong again, you DO NOT need expensive monitors or speakers for the PC because a monitor made 5 years ago has a higher resolution and clearer picture than most of the expensive HD tv's today. And unless you like sitting 3 feet away from a big screen, PC users can use cheap headphones with 3D sound and still be able to listen to surround sound.

And the cost of a PC with EQUAL performance to a console is by far cheaper. To buy a HIGH end PC which will annihilate ANY console in performance is either the same price or more expensive, but will last a great deal longer than a console.

Most of the PC issues posted here are the result of PEBKAC.

Unfortunately I can't argue either side, because PCs will never have Soul Calibur, or Ninja Gaiden.

Like I said before they are all different. Hardware wise, it's easy to see which is better.

But 360's pretty well off, a Triple core processor, the graphic equivelent of a Radeon X1950, and a some good RAM. Most people's PC's don't compare. Remember, most of the people who try to play games on PCs buy Dell and HP because they're cheap and they know nothing about hardware.

Even though Iike PC gaming, I'm buying a 360 at the end of the year. Gotta catch Halo 3 and Guitar Hero 3 when they come out.

Being a gamer means you have to like lots of different games, not just one game or one platform. They're all different.

Though I would like 60fps straight in H2V.

My Game list on the 360:
Halo 3 (duh)
Rock Band
Crackdown (after the beta I found it enjoyable, while a little simplistic. Nothing like leaping from buildings with homing rocket launchers)
Gears of War

And I agree with you Vincent, despite the PC being much superior in my opinion there's nothing like a 360 LAN party (although a PC LAN is kickass too) and I consider myself a well-rounded gamer.

Have you ever played any of the console versions of the Battlefield series? They suck. They are just one example of what happens when good PC games get dumbed down for consoles.

However when games, which originally are launched for console, come out on PC they are so much better because the graphics can be improved and a lot more features can be included.

I suggest you try Battlefield 2 for PC and then try it on xbox to understand what I'm talking about. Its like going from flying an F15 to driving a homemade pushcart.
Although I agree with you, Infinitus One, I must say that PC ports don't always end up being better than their console counter-parts. Halo 2 is one shining example of that. :)

Was anyone else slightly disappointed with the C&C3 graphics by the way?
Are we talking about the Xbox 360 port, or just in general? I thought the visuals were okay; they weren't too demanding of your system (but on lower-end rigs like mine, some things start to fall apart like the FMV cutscenes, where the audio and the video doesn't synch, ugh).

I was talking just in general. I've got a pretty powerful machine and I was expecting to be blown away by the visual but sadly I wasn't. They were just ok, like you said. Maybe I was expecting too much!
Eh, graphics have never been Command and Conquer's strong side, I think. Hey, StarCraft is in 2D, but you don't see people caring about the visuals.

Sometimes this is actually true, though note how I say sometimes (talking about graphics comparison to a 360 to an uneducated PC buyer). Doom 3's graphics compared to the PC's graphics are over all worse. Even mid-range PC's at the time of Doom 3's release looked better on the PC then they did on the Xbox. It's the same thing for Oblivion for the 360 versus the PC version, especially when on the PC version you can also utilize texture replacements for higher resolution and bump map support, achieving higher graphical output then what was even offered by the developers.

And if you think I'm trying to bite your head off, I'm not; just discussing the point.

Okay, here's the thing...

I would prefer getting the PC, but if I were you, I'd go after the Xbox 360.

Why buy vista when you can buy a 360 in stead?

Why not get a good job so you can afford to buy both. It's nice to be able to have a high end computer and a 360 with HD and surround sound. Then I can play whatever I want, on which ever system I want.

Both have their positive and negative points. If you prefer one system over the other that's great for you. Just realize it's your opinion, and others' opinions may differ. It's all about preference.
I LOVE this dude's way of talking. Or writing, whatever you want to call it. :D Win.

Easily you spend 1500 on that.

Secondly you also must pay for XBOX LIVE to get the best out of you Games For Windows

and thirdly you must deal with modders 24/7 and people hacking into your private servers.
