"Senior" or "Veteran" Members would not think that they were so great that they couldn't be bothered to converse with regular members. If you want proof that the system would not create elitism, just look at the moderators - they participate in the forums just as much as ever.

The moderators are not senior members; they are moderators. Your analogy doesn't hold. Plus we've never had people called senior members based on some criteria so you can't prove anything, you can only assume.

That's true. My account (and my use of forums) is older than some moderators. I would not use those terms forman. It makes some people jumpy when you call them old/young

***Does this make Lukens a senior/veteran or junior member???***

The problem here is usually self-righteous twuntmonkeys who post exclusively in the septagon and are obviously only posting about how much the H3F needs cleaning up so they'll be noticed to become the next moderators
I hardly think that those members are a problem.

At any rate, you'd better take two large steps backwards if you are referring to me. Are you?

I should not have posted a mere excerpt from that thread.... it was a rather complicated idea (big surprise coming from me, I know), and that was just a couple of paragraphs.

The analogy does hold, but when taken out of context seems a bit odd.... my bad. If you read the thread I linked on the first page, you'll understand a bit better. Sorry about that.

I think there should be a report button on every post. When you click it you are brought to a page where you can check the reason for the report, like flaming, spamming, racism, etc. The information from the reports could somehow be relayed to the moderators which could help them get to the problem posts quicker.

People would over use it causing havoc to our beloved bungie staff and Ninjas. If you have a post you dislike just PM them.

Elitism has nothing to do with how long you've been a member, foman. The most obvious incarnation is your regular "My post count > Yours" troll. However, they're not a problem here. The problem here is usually self-righteous twuntmonkeys who post exclusively in the septagon and are obviously only posting about how much the H3F needs cleaning up so they'll be noticed to become the next moderators

Actually we post here for other persons' benefit such as yourself. We are trying to make the online community a better place. Is there a problem with that?

Oh, don't worry. My comment wasn't directed at anyone in this thread :).

I hardly think

Probably where your problems lie.

(Again, i must take this opportunity to reiterate the solution as being Twitch For Modz. You know... I might just start a campaign for it..)

The only thing I got out of that thread would be that if you trusted a member enough to give them some sort of entitlement, you might as well make them a mod and skip the whole senior member process.

Posted by: elmickerWith all of your aloof posturing as if you're too good for the rest of us and only deign to post in order to astonish us all with your brilliantly sarcastic replies to others' posts, I would have thought that you would know the difference between a three-word out of context quote designed to set me up for one of your half-witted insults and a two-paragraph excerpt from my own writings designed to briefly defend an idea.

Or perhaps you don't.

You're getting caught up on the wrong things. The fact that it is out of context means nothing, he was just getting his point across. If he had just said "you hardly think, and that's your problem" it would have the same affect, other than you wouldn't be angry about him using your words out of context.

See. This prooves that it happens to the best of us.

A button to click on the forums to message a moderator would be terrible because it would harm anybody and everybody.

I still think the forums could only benefit from the system, though, if only certain members were able to flag threads. But, the best way for that to happen would be for other members to have NO IDEA who has the "flagging status". There would be absolutely no elitism there. And, if a member who is able to flag posts decides to tell others, then their priviledge should be taken away then and there.

Actually, the Web Team could just make it so that out of nowhere, some members are able to flag posts, and no mention of it would be made to the community at all. For instance, tomorrow, fifty members get PM's saying that you are now able to flag threads that are breaking the rules. Do not tell anybody about this or you lose the priviledge. Do not abuse it or you will be perma-banned. This way, absolutely no elitism could form.

I'm annoyed at how many flammers there are on this site. So many people who just come here to inspire conflict in threads, put people down, a lot of -blam!-ing and stuff. I don't know, maybe they fail at life and get pissed on all the time, so they come here to do it back?

I think it needs to be sorted.... bungie will end up a community of angrys =(
If it hasn't already.

Don't get mad. Just report them to the ninjas. They will handle them.
