I believe that if BUNGIE were to create a game feature like this, it would all depend on its context. Such as, i think it would only be suitable for the campaign to maybe escape a level or evacuate a squad of marines or something requiring a pelican's service. The only way it could possible work in multi player is if your team could get into the pelican as well, and the maps were impossibly huge that you had to fly your team to the flag ( which would be highly unlikely to happen, especially with BUNGIE creating the game) I dont know, just an idea, post your thoughts and say how you think that this would be an exciting, or a horrible, feature for the game.

it would be cool to pilot larger aircraft, but not necissarilly the pelican...I'd like to see some of the spaceships pilotable (only in space maps of course)

I think that piloting larger aircraft would be awesome in Halo 2. The only thing im not sure about, is whether or not they would be able to balance it equally with the rest of the game. If they could, I think it would be a great addition to what is already going to be the sickest game ever made.

yea i tried to squeeze the Covenant dropship or maybe the "Phantom" into the post but it didnt fit in the quesiton, sorry. But those would be sweet as well. Also if a co-op or multiplayer friend could use the cannon on the Covenant vessals, or maybe put a nose gunner for the pelican like bungie originally considered.

Something like the Pelicans would be one-player only for flying, mainly transportation. A Phantom, however, seems to be a two-person task to utilize it fully.

piloting these "large aircraft" would probably entitle a bit of air to air battles. my opinion is that bungie should steer clear of air-combat, the banshees are great, to a point. you ever get in one of those endless whirlwind battles on haloPC? its like whoever turns sharper wins. there are a few skilled pilots that have mastered a lot of the seemingle impossible banshee moves, and those are what make it fun...but i just dread the possibility of even more air-fights in MP.

True, IF they made the ship effective for combat, it could be used for maybe just a fast transportation to take a squad of team members to the flag, possibly adding stratedgy to the games. And also banshees could be able to shout them down (destructible vehicles), or maybe even your team could have namshee escorts. Just and idea.

I'd like being able to barrel roll without explosives. The banshee is supposed to be an airship that can turn upside down while flying.

I personally think its a bad idea. I can't see how they can match a space flight sim. into a FPS. Also in MP as said the only need for them would be huge maops which would then make them a necessity and ground attack just overly time consuming. One thought about endless flying battles would be that the aircraft that are pilotable are ground attack aircraft only and theerfore of little us in air to air combat, although I guess that won't stop people trying. Hopefully the new Rocket Launcher should cut down on aircraft over use which would suck.

that would be awsome!
for example, wouldn't it be cool to fly your buddies over battlefields via xbox live?
or wouldn't it bee cool too if you could fly a longsword bomber and kick the -blam!- out of some covie bastard tanks?

It would be really cool, as long as bungie made it work.

Personally, when it comes to moving troops I think using the Transport Hog would make for a far more exciting trip. The simple fact is that the Covenant rule space and rule the air, Flying a Pelican while in a dog fight is tantamount to suicide.

It would be good for that 50 player map if that ever happens, though I doubt it. I prefer having a transport hog goin with 2 escort hogs and a couple of banshee escorts.

What about for 16 player ctf games there be ai controlled pelicans or covie dropships, that would make a trip from one base to the other like once every five or ten minutes. If you want to ride hop on in, and you could be shot out or killed with a rocket. Thoughts?

That would be intresting, would the dropships be able to return fire, or would they just transport?

maybe some cover fire, like they do in Halo when they drop off the covies, and the pelican has the chain gun on it, which a spartan could man

SB-117

Perhaps a smaller craft, a brand new aircraft like an airbourne warthog or covie bus would probably work better. That would be so cool in CTF or something.
