Lets say I know someone who doesn't believe that Halo 2 has auto aim. Anyone have any videos to prove this fact?

what kinda weirdo wouldnt see that halo 2 has auto aim?

Why the hell are you looking at this? Get out.

And no group invites, you jerk. I'm not interested.

Only a video that I hate to watch and distribute. It is the truth. Have him look at an enemy and let the enemy run around. His aim will follow the enemy slighty. That should be enough.

Yep thats what I told him, but hes telling me that thats not auto aim...?

Technically it's called magnetism, but there's also auto-aim. It's what makes sweep sniping possible.

You get a headshot not because you timed the shot properly in a retarded swinging move you did, but because you're exploiting the aim.

There is both magnetism and auto-aim, due to the nature of XBL and the Internet.

1. An easy method is get 3 friends in a custom (your disbelieving mate also).

2. Then have two players stand still about 20 feet apart and aim at each others head. Then shoot at each other constantly with SMG (one being your skeptical mate)

3. Then have the third guy run directly between you in a straight adjacent line, so he crosses between you both (you know 90 degrees to your field of vision) make sure his head/body will pass through the disbelievers reticule. Watch as his aiming reticule auto-moves to follow the guy crossing his shooting path.

4. I find it happens most with SMG for some reason

Voila, you've proven auto-aim over XBL on H2. By the way this is really the only time it occurs for me during fighting gameplay (as above).

As for magnetism, simply wait until you're host and then snipe like crazy. I find the human sniper with host has the biggest magnetism for some reason, maybe it's just me though ;-)

my other account, if you are gonna send me an FR, send it to this account and my Main GT.

stand right next to eachother and have him look slightly to the right of you with a br. then have him look as fast as possible to the left, see if he notices the reticule slow down when its on your body, then speed up when it goes back off of your body.

Defghik had a video of Halo 2 auto aim, on Acension I believe.

Here's the test, start up a custom game, BR start.........on Midship, I guess.

Have both of you go to top mid. Stand as far away as possible but keep the reticule RED on each other.

Aim at your friend's head. Now, move the aimer slightly off his head. Make sure it's still red.

Now, shoot. You'll notice that even though your aimer isn't on his head, your shots are still hitting. That's auto aim.

That's auto aim.

Like ALIENwolve said, it's technically called magnetism. To be precise it's called Bullet Magnetism.

I think he term Auto-aim is overused and some people should just learn to use the proper words like "Aim Assist" and "Bullet Magnetism". It's like those kids who get their accounts scammed from them on a website and claim they were 'Hacked'.

You guys call that magnetism? Hmm I've been calling magnetism the thing where if you're shooting someone and an enemy walks in front of you the reticule follows him instead.........

Ehh, there's so much I get them confused a lot. I like "Aim Assist" though, I may just start using that from now on.

By the way, HELLO MARK. LOL get your 360 fixed it has been AGESSSSSSSSSS :-(

Well, I don't think there are 'definitive' terms for the two kinds of aiming assistance like we see in halo 2. Sometimes one is called magnetism referring to the reticle stickiness, sometimes the other is called magnetism due to the curve of the bullets.

  • 07.31.2007 3:45 AM PDT

1.Arkham Asylum, 2.Mass Effect, 3.Halo CE, 4.Mass Effect 2, 5.Halo 2, 6.Splinter Cell Double Agent, 7.Gears of War 2, 8.Medievil, 9.Oblivion, 10.Crash Team Racing

Halo2 has autoaim always as much. HaloCE seems to have random, have you noticed that even when you play same gametype in same level with same players autoaim seems to vary bethween none to lot?

My Dictionary:
AimAssist=Whole stuff
AutoAim=Reticle moves towards targets
Magnetism=Reticle Stickness, bullet curving goes here too because bullets try to stick to target too.

Magnetism is ok to certain limit, autoaim just sucks. But im fine with no aimassist

Aim Assist is the sticky reticule and Bullet Magnetism is the curving bullets.

Auto-aim would be the game doing all the aiming for you period(Modders use Auto-aim)

  • 08.02.2007 10:32 AM PDT

When you are shooting one of the enemies, and one of his partners jump in front of him and it drags your reticule, that is auto aim and it friggin sucks.

get him to slowly shoot you as you walk past him and he will see it moves the aimer

My logic is undeniable.

lol, we modders only expand what is already there, if you change a few values, you completely remove magnetism, (Reticule moving towards enemy) add 2pi Rad autoaim (The bullets will leave the barrel at strange angles to hit the enemy) and turn up the homing ability of projectiles (The projectile will change course in the air to hit the target). This is the simplest and most accurate way to describe each of the terms.

Kevin's post = breath of fresh air.
Take it from this guy people, he knows what he's talking about.

Second accounts are NOT cheating:

Magnetism can be very helpful at times, especially with the slight to severe lag that is on XBL. Sometimes its a -blam!- though...

actually halo 2 does take a slight amount of skill varying from whom can aim the reticule to the head.some people can't even shoot things standing still. while you have a point there, halo 1 was harder, halo 1 did have some flaws as well, like the plasma rifle and ghost freezing. the ghost could go around the tank and just not let the person move.

Gamertags: defghik, sneaky beav3r. Send me a FR if you play MLG customs.

Sad but true... Halo 1 > Halo 2>>>Halo 3
