I think that sounds badass, but you know someones gona rip on you saying that its un-haloish, and that the games not Metal Gear or Splinter Cell. I myself think that there should be a silencer available for both the new pistol( if there is such) and the battle rufle. Since the new AI are smarter than the original ones, then stealth would be a fun feature.

granted it would be nice, to have a suppressor, rather than a silencer... they're both the same but suppressor dulls the light emitted as well. but then how fun would it be to snipe everyone then run through an empty battlefield? im not ripping just think of it all. and what button would mount your suppressor?

...Or you could just smack them with the butt of your gun, therefore eliminating the need for silencers. but yes, that would be sweet.

Frankie did say that you could shoot out light bulbs, though. So some of what you hope for will be in Halo 2.

Yeah, as long as bungie don't make it like splinter cell i'm happy. Then it would be so boring. And it'd have to be optional so you can take it off if you like to storm in there willy-nilly and kill everything in sight, or at least try.

it says in the FAQ that you can shoot out light bulbs and hide in the shadows and then the covenant will come looking for you with flash lights.

Some one said battlefield, maybe you could use nightvision

Nightvision will probably still be limited to certain weapons. The Master Chief doesn't have nightvision built into his helmet or the implants for his eyes.

i dunno about it, i like the stealth the way it is... maybe with the shooting out of lights, but then the light would make noise when breaking, still alerting the covenant

They said the new MJOLNIR armour comes with some upgrades. There was another thread suggesting that maybe that could refer to night vision. After all there has been no sign of a torch yet and it is set over half a millenium in the future...

There has to be at least nightvision...in the books, MC has multiple modes of vision, therefore nightvision wouldnt be that big of a deal...i think the dynamic lighting system is an awesome aspect to add to the game...it only adds to the realism, plus it wont be as hardcore or as big of a deal as MGS or Splinter Cell...therefore its nothing to worry about and wont take over the game. I think that most people will barely use it...only in dark allways, tunnels, etc...only the places where it will prove most useful.

HALO allows you to be stealthy.
In HALO - on your way to the Control room.
On two seperate incidents:
* I killed a whole floor full of grunts and 2 elites without firing a single shot or throwing a nade.
* The second time I did that, was against 4 - Red Armor Elites.- They were circling around on this floor and I whacked em all- Back of their Heads.

and yes that was on Legendary. Plus at a whole bunch of different ocassions, I simply did not engage the enemy, just slipped past em or simply run away.

To Defeat the enemy is to defeat his objectives

You killed 31 grunts in that area EZ. Hehehe. I love couting. But as for a suppresor.

Maybe not on a pistol, but rather the MA5B as an option like the Spartans had in The Fall of Reach. The gun is weak enough(or so some say) to merit this little silenced option. Maybe they could put it on that.

Especially when you evade is Plasma Sword as he swings. That little buzz sound is so enjoyable to have miss you and then your own wet crack on the enemy's shield.....that sounds like so much fun I'm gonna play now.

I don't think a suppressor would make the game too much like a stealth game. You always have the option to run into a building, dual SMGs out and just lay down on the trigger like a total meathead. More stealth options just gives you more ways you can approach a dangerous situation. By no means are you forced to shoot out lights and silently slay the servants of the Covenant. One of my favorite aspects about the level The Silent Cartographer is how you can kill just about everyone there without them even knowing you're around (the only exception are the invisible elites, but I imagine you can kill them stealthily somehow). Heck you can do that in many situations, but it's usually fairly difficult in Halo.

What I'm saying is, I don't think we should be forced to use stealth, but I think we ought to have the option. It won't hurt the game, and it just might add replay value if anything.

Bungie said we could use stealth as much or as little as we want.
