Is it possible to play H2 online on PC with people that play H2 on Xbox Live? My friend said you can, but I don't remember hearing about it. Serious answers would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

No, the reason is that the map file sizes were reduced in H2V to make it easier for custom maps to be shared easier on the fly, which affected the included maps on the disc. Plus I think the fact that the two games run two different versions of live would be another factor to consider.

That wasn't the reason either. All in due time, it was laziness. Oh, and compiling two different net codes as well. All a nightmare, and no one was going to bother to do such a thing for a quick cash-in port.

in the halo2 forum a mod said games need the "Live Anywhere" feature (would be found on back of box)

and that they'd have to release an update for Halo 2 (probably a lot of work and halo 3 has priority)

then he said Shadowrun had some issues that imbalanced pc vs xbox users. and plus who knows if xbox users could connect to pc users anyway (360 can but that'd probably be tough for 3 different systems)

What?

Halo 2 Vista utilizes Games for Windows Live, but it doesn't support cross-platform gameplay.

Right

H2V Doesnt Even use the same engine as h2x

Shawdorun(which has many players) Does use the same engine on both platforms. Which is one reason cross Platform was possible

The general consensus about speaking about topics you have a slippery grasp on is that you usually don't act like you know about them.

Halo 2 Vista and Halo 2 Xbox use the very same Blam! engine. What the two differ are network configuration, such as different net codes, and thus are unable to utilize cross-platform play. Physics has nothing to do with it.

I know about the different netcodes.

But Pc uses the Havok engine which is another reason.

Xbox could also superbounce. We cant.

Slaying noobs since 2007.

The search feature is right up there underneath your profile in the top right hand corner, use it.

Halo 2 Xbox also uses the Havok engine.

From the Wikipedia Halo 2 article: The game features a newly built game engine, the Havok physics engine

I wouldn't have even needed the Wikipedia reference; it's just that why would Halo 2 Vista utilize a different physics engine?

It could be a different version of the Havok engine. Maybe the developers of H2V decided to use the latest version. Yes? No? Maybe so?

No. They didn't touch the physics engine at all.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

You guys, the reason why it doesn't support croos paltform paly is becuase H2V does not use Matchmaking.

Why the Hell would they? Considering they didn't bother changing or fixing many of the game's issues either...

Perhaps, but that's just one small reason why so.

Slaying noobs since 2007.

I have said it again and again it's not the -blam!-ing matchmaking, it's the old xbox live, the new xbox live, and the live anywhere system that aren't going to work, I mean come on Bungie couldn't even get the new maps out to everyone very well, how do you think they will do trying to make a three yearold game compatible with a new system?
