The fact that Halo 1 has (xbox) has been out for six years roughly, and Halo 2 for just about 3. Yet there's more players playing both these than most any other games this old.Wrong. Unreal Tournament? Half-Life? Hello? As of May 2006, Counter-Strike is still the most widely played FPS in the world, and it came out in 1999. StarCraft was released in 1998 and it has sold over nine million copies and it's still extremely popular (especially in Korea). Halo has got nothing on this.
You need to play more games. :)

The Halo franchise is what GoldenEye was with N64. A fresh FPS, a way to enjoy the type of game in a whole new perspective.
I, like most people, that play FPS', is still in love with the Halo games, whether it be on xbox, pc, or 360. THE GAMES ARE GOOD NO MATTER WHAT !Fresh? A new perspective? Please, elaborate. Although I do admit Halo had superb controls for a console shooter and once again proved that the genre could be played on a console, that doesn't mean too much for the PC.
Games good no matter what platform? Halo 2 was a disappointing lackluster port on the PC, from what I've heard.

The only other game I can think of that really stood out from other games in it's genre is World of Warcraft. I wasn't a big fan of playing the game 3+ hours a day, but when I did I enjoyed the crap outta it.Yeah, you definitely need to play more games.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that Halo is a great game and stands out from the rest. It doesn't try to be like other games, instead other games try to be like it.Yes and no. In my opinion, Halo doesn't stand out that well as an original title. Most of it is nothing new I haven't played before, to be honest. Space zombies? A giant ring in space? I don't even know where I'd begin with examples. Yeah, Halo is totally innovative and all the credit goes solely to Halo considering that it doesn't borrow inspiration or ideas from other games or works of literature whatsoever. [/sarcasm] Perhaps it is good, and yes, even influential, but I don't consider Halo as genre defining or as important as Half-Life was to first-person shooters. Unless you're talking about consoles, Halo really isn't that special and most PC gamers don't care too much about it.

You need to shut your mouth, get off these forums, and stop playing Halo if you think it blows.Haha, look who's talking. I don't think Halo blows, I was just saying if you really think Counter-Strike is bad, then just imagine how bad Halo is on this scale. Again, I would like you to elaborate why you think what many gamers consider to be one of the greatest shooters of all time blows.
